Welcome back to another episode! Today we are reviewing what is probably the most widely used water filter on the market, the Sawyer Squeeze. I have been using Sawyer products for the last 4-5 years and I've had mixed results with them. I'm not a huge fan of the Sawyer mini because of the low flow rate. I also haven't had the best luck with Sawyer water bags of the years either.
With that being said, I've really been enjoying using the Sawyer Squeeze on my backpacking adventures the last six months or so. The Squeeze has a reasonably high flow rate and being able to backflush the filter after each trip has kept it running smoothly for quite a while now. It's not as fast as a Grayl Ultralight when it's new, but the flow rate stays higher for a longer period of time with the ability to backflush.
One of the main features with the Squeeze is its modularity. The Squeeze is compatible with water bottles, hydration bladders, aftermarket water bags and can even be used as a gravity fed filter. It is hard to beat the utility of the squeeze, costing around $35 and weighing only three ounces! In addition to reviewing the specs of this product, I also teach you some important nuances of this system.
Overall, I really like the Squeeze filter for hiking, camping and backpacking. If I had one complaint it would just be the stock water bags, which are a common failure point with this system. I recently purchased a CNOC Vecto water bag as well as one from the brand Evernew. I will be doing an updated video in the future reviewing these water bags after they have spent enough time in the field to give an honest review. As always, thank you so much for watching and check out some of the links below!
