Wrong! The original was played on a Tenor by Steve Gregory! It was recorded on a tape machine slowed down by one semitone, and later was sped back up [one semitone] (therefore it may sound like an Alto, but it's a tenor)

@MeccaVideoPro Жыл бұрын
It was actually recorded on Tenor, the track was slowed down a halfstep to allow for easier fingering. Then it was sped back up which is why the sax sounds kind of in between a tenor and an alto.

@@SaxophoneMasterclasscheck out Dan Forshaw’s KZbin sax channel. He tells the story in detail about the recording on Tenor done by session player Steve Gregory, why he slowed the tape down to record it in the key that allowed him to do the glissando which he couldn’t do in the original key and also what George Michael said about the recording. I think Steve was about the 8th saxophonist to try out.

A lot of people are saying it’s a tenor. Not in the recording guys. It’s an alto sax. But it sounds super good on the tenor as well and that was always the sax he used at live concerts.

You just learn how to read music score. And you can play most of music/song. Of course, to get good sound, you need practice.
