I use the SSL EQ on my vocal mix bus and SSL EQ on my mastering bus, just again for the smoothness. Of course with different settings. Maybe it's an old method. But I like it a lot.

I recently loaded up on a ton of new plugins to do some final remastering on all my older songs to complete my legacy for all time...but wow do I have my hands full. So I have been trying to gather as much info as possible as I dig into my mixing chores. I understand what you are saying and what you are doing...but have to say I did not hear any changes until you got to the drum section. Not sure if it's because I am also a drummer and know more of what I'm hearing or not. But I'm anxious to dig deeper into the spectral EQ's for sure. Thanks!

Does the Munson curve relate at all to the pink noise technique of mixing track volumes alongside a temp pink noise track?
@korkenknopfus4 ай бұрын
Funny story: last year, when we did the mixing challenge in our community using this song, first thing my wife did after I proudly showed her the mixdown was to cover her ears and no way, she wouldn’t listen to the song. Now I understand it was a good example on harsh tracks and I should have put more attention to that frequency range. She has a special sensitivity in that range, so it must be double too annoying.

Nice tip. Using UAD Studer 800 at 30 IPS remove harshness too IMHO.

@@paulmisty8998 Like anything else, if you use them wrong, you will get nasty results. As far as the sound goes, SA-3 and Soothe are both in the same sound quality range, but not all of these types of plugins sound good, I have to say.

hi Chris,,I wonder if you can help. all my settings have been lost in cuebase 13 pro. im trying to default bck to factory but im having difficulty. the issue is iver lost the ability to see my audio inputs that used to be linked to my akai, prophet and my sub 37. no matter what i do i cant get them back and i cant wipe clean a new verson because cuebase is remembering these settings. when i put cuebase 12 on its all good. do you know how to reset audio inputs to factory or beter still remove all files that are cached for remembering this mess. by the way when i re start and hold cntrl / option it doesnt re set this, neither doe a fresh instal so these settings are held somewhere i cant work ou, im on a mac. thanks if you can help.

Hey! Thanks so much for the feedback and for watching the channel. I’m curious-what makes you feel like you’re not the typical viewer, since I have several Cubase videos in this channel? I'd love to hear more about what you’re looking for in Cubase videos, especially regarding stock plugins. Your insights could really help me create content that’s useful for every Cubase user. Looking forward to your thoughts! 😊

@@mixdownonline As a home studio, recording novice I feel like what is available to me is almost impossible to unlock (by unlock I mean use on a recording I make) and buying plug ins feels like a step beyond what I am currently capable of benefiting from. That being said understanding what each plug in was contributing in this video was hard for me to follow. That's what I mean by not the person, I might not be experienced enough. I could probably benefit for looking up basic videos and don't expect you to do that on your channel.
@korkenknopfus4 ай бұрын
@@petercino6972take a look in Chris channel, under the playlists. The video groups are ordered after themes and there are a lot of videos about the basics, sometimes with stock plug-ins, with paid ones, and even he does comparison of the results using stock plug-ins against paid ones. You will find new and old videos, but the old ones are still valid. Aside from the KZbin videos he has paid courses too. Among them are a course only centered in Cubase, as a big guide, and another one about mixing, where he uses only stock plug-ins.
