You said something interesting but confusing to me 😊 about eq NOT been effected by the signal amount but by the signal itself 🤯🔨. What Do you mean by "Signal itself"? Do you mean reverb for instance?

Hi Chris, great vid man. Question, so when ive Gain Staged with the pre-gain in mix console, you are definitely saying DO NOT touch pre-gain in mixcon after?
@mixdownonline3 сағат бұрын
You can if you want, but you just need to consider that it will affect some of the plugins you might have on that channel, like compressor, limiters, clippers, saturators that will behave depending on the amount of signal they get.

For my style of music, -14 generally sounds best to me during the bulk of the song, like verse patterns.. but when it crescendos to the highest rocking part, my ears really want to go to more like -10.5 most times

Hi Chris, Is need to gain stage my mix-bus as well?
@mixdownonline3 сағат бұрын
Yes, but no need to gain stage too quiet, so just make sure not to peak your Mis Bus. On my side, I don't go over -3 dbfs on peaks, so I keep some headroom for mastering
@MrDeki722 сағат бұрын
@@mixdownonline Ok. Thank you so much for your respond. :D
@KenshoBeats8 сағат бұрын
How about some uad analoque emulations that are optimized at different levels from lets say -18 to about -12 dbfs?
@mixdownonline6 сағат бұрын
That's exactly the dbfs range I aim. VU metering is an average level, and dbfs a peak level metering. So -18 to about -12 dbfs for gain staging is good to follow.

My question is, when a track is in a fader, and running hot, there's the gain stage knobs right there. But if you have 2 or 3 tracks like this, and you pout them in a group, then the group gets hot. We'll you can hit that button again and everything seems fine. But what about putting a compressor on one? Or 2 - 3 other plugs...do you gain stage using the slider? Or the button that inside? And do you have any merch? I would love to have your logo on a hat, or shirt, or even a coffee mug. Mixdown brother!!!!

Glad the video answered your questions :-) Thanks for your support, but I don't have available merch to sell at the moment, but I'm working on making this possible. Hang on!

Very good video about gain staging, I totally can agree upon 😊 Now hope that the comments will be respectful because for some people gain staging can be a very controversial topic. People who think gain staging doesn’t matter can be aggressively opinionated about it. For some people the topic can become a matter of life or death 😂

Since Cbase 12 the whole thing is that any controller can be the best controller... Like you can reprogram the buttons of any keyboard or controller how ever you like in Cubase, like you don't have to buy a special "Cubase controller" ... I'm using my M audio 32 air to do everything I need

Just a thought but would another option be to just lower the send rather than the return channel the same amount of decibels as the drum group? 🥁

Funny how so many people get meticulous about gain compensation and converters, but we don't ever see a finished mix from them. Meanwhile, Andrew Schepps mixes mostly in cheap Sony headphones. 😂

I've been seeing videos like these recently. Sounds like a great tool. I use an MX master 3 mouse and love it. tons of programmable buttons with a secondary scroll. And as for movement, I just don't move the mouse around that much to affect my wrist or for it to be an issue with space. I'm open to trying new tools.

Hello, I would like to ask you, I work with Cubase, and every time I save a project backup, (I save it on a disk separate from the operating system)(I work on win 10) my local disk c, disk where I have the operating system and cubase, my c drive is filling up more and more, could you tell me why that happens to me? I don't understand it, because I am not saving the projects on the c drive. I would like to know your opinion. thank you so much.

I like the Arc with the hardware box, that you theoretically can use for a seperate system and run the software in eg Cubase. I like the SoundID for its combined speaker and Headphone solution. Btw. Even you said you don't use calibration for Headphones. With your stand on the differences between the 2 systems, which i agree with. Unless we have very expensive equipment I doubt most of us can hear a big difference. I've haught on purchasing SoundID, but regards to the custom headphones profile you can get at extra cost, sending in your headphones and let Sonarworks measure it in detail, wonder If that is worth it .. doubt many would be able to hear the diff. between the custom measurement and the "General" profile SoundID gives you if you have one of the popular headphones they support
