Always always always add a union after the manual bypass valve, the electronic water feed and in the common line above the water level. If your boiler over fills, breaking the unions will identify your culprit that is leaking by. I have seen multiple occasions where bypass ball valve leak and of course electronic water feeds. If your not testing your guessing which one is leaking by. Also adding a boiler pressure reducing valve prior to your water feed will dramatically lessen the likelihood of it leaking by 👍

Deburring became force of habit. 👍🏼 I agree with Mike, I prefer a simple manual feed over the auto feeder. I’ve seen disasters with flooded systems because the feeder went out of whack. 👍🏼 all good here

Keeping it real Mikey Pipes. I would reem ABS and PVC drainage piping to make sure there was nothing for hair or anything to hang up on. As a matter of opinion, I wouldn't have used the 45's with the valve. I would have squared off the bypass with 90s and tied it in after the screen and not before, but I like the neat manifold look. Make the trades great again. #LoveBosch Smash the Like button Share and Subscribe!!!

Yes I deburr the outside of pipe especially when there is an o ring inside of the pro press fitting. . I remember one time I had a call back that the pipe I worked on was leaking. I couldn’t understand why until I cut up and manage to pull out the o-ring and it had a slight slith from the burr. Also one time I was at a client house and noticed a lot of the fittings that were shark bite and one had a leak where the o ring ripped a small chunk of o ring, the pipe had a burr. Lesson learned. 😅

I always deburr the outer edge of the copper at least because I don’t want to take a chance at the o ring getting damaged in the press fittings. Usually deburr the inner edge just trying to provide the best quality i possibly can.

😂😂 it is surprising in a year how much scrap copper we acquire and it makes a really nice Christmas bonus to my employees after it is cashed in. An! It also make the employees more conscience on keeping every little tidbit of scrap copper too… But to answer your question ?? AC lines ? 100% Always . Water lines? Sometimes not every time. Black iron? Nope just a few thumps an old rag wipe.. just keeping it honest here❤

You should develop a hand out info sheet for your steam boiler customers that explains what they should be doing every month to test their boiler and what things to look for (white smoke from chimney, excessive water usage, etc.). Creates value and could lead to more business if they call when they see these issues.

As an inspector that has to approve the "minimal standard" "unfortunately," No one can call you a hack. The inner burring is not so big a deal, the outer is to protect a press fitting, the manufacturer wants to deburr, a mark of proper insert, and an x on the press point showing you looked at it and it was done. I thought you did not like auto feeds. Yes, the old ones were constantly filling systems, the new ones are way more reliable. That said there is no substitution for making the homeowner check the steam boiler at a minimum every other week during the heating system. New equipment makes homeowners lazy until the heat breaks they do not even get yearly maintenance. They should be thankful they are not shoveling coal. I got to learn to comment after I have seen the entire video, ya Hydro Level is the only one I use. In MA you need a 9D in front of the auto feed only. We just got a new code on December 8th and it is being debated as being better or worse.

The issue with soldering is consistency, and not leaving a pish of flux and solder inside the tube.... Time will tell..... PVC supply from the 70s did not work out so well, but that does not mean technology should be feared. New products can be fine, if they have been independently tested, by independent testers, who are not paid by the firm whose products are to be tested. Otherwise, Testing is not just guessing, it can be massaged. And if testing of our infrastructure is massaged, there is no happy ending. @@Hvac-dude

"The feeder can be mounted on a horizontal or vertical cold water supply line. It must be installed with a manual by-pass valve and unions (as shown above) for future serviceability. Arrows on the valve indicate direction of water flow. Do not install feeder on hot water supply." right out of the installation manual. cold water feed or warranty voided.

The internal parts are not designed for hoy water- its in the instructional manual for ever Feeder from solenoid type to float type. They wear out and get jammed prematurely. . plus voids the warranty. Many people install this way. and those are the ones I usually find failed however it does take a few years and some its not a issue. @@rcmechanialgroup2856
