The key is higher is what he's stating in the original comment, The G# is the note the singer usually doesn't have to hit because the guitar isn't in standard tuning, but in this cover it is in standard meaning, he has to hit a higher note than the original song, meaning G#

How did his band memorize it? How did the millions of people who have listened to the song memorize it? And obviously say it ain't so is a more well known song, it came out in 1994, over 20 years ago! Pumped up kicks was released only 4 years ago. Your argument is based in bias and raw emotion for a band whom I also find amazing. I LOVE WEEZER, and say it ain't so is one of my favorite songs of all time, don't get me wrong. You just sound like an idiot when you don't acknowledge the fact that he was reading lyrics off of a paper because he was ill prepared, not because one song was "more legendary" than the other, or whatever your idiotic phrasing was.

I was also brought here because of weezer playing pumped up kicks. Mark mastered this song way before he got famous. Weezer was his favorite band in his teens. Mark did a awesome job on this. Way better than weezer in Costa Mesa, doing Pumped Up Kicks.
