Over the years I can see that a lot of people don't like this cover. You might disagree, but it's actually really good. Maybe for me it is, because I like Deftones so much...

and this is how a COVER is supposed to be played in my opinion. If you want to hear an exact COPY of a song.. than listen to the original.. but if I want to hear a certain band COVER song.. I want that band to play it as if THEY wrote it. Which is what Deftonrs did here and its awesome.

I fucking love this cover so much because it sounds like they really just jammed it and played through without fully knowing it. If you've been on a band and have played covers for the fuck of it bc you loves certain songs without trying to make it perfect you know what I'm talking about. It's like playing real like rock band like the game it's so fun. You all know it hella well just from liking the song and just jamm and aren't afraid of messing verse structure or sound or anything, it's so beautiful and memorizing bc they sound so deftones while playing it. Chino said that they have such an enormous amount of respect for weezer that that is actually part of the reason they play weezer covers the way they do. He said he knew that they could never do the songs as well as weezer, so they don't go for an EXACT cover, just a fun vibe. You get the point, unfortunate some others don't.

given, the original is catchy as hell, and also brilliant and a totally awesome song. but this portrays so much emotion! the slower tempo makes it so much easier to relate to, it's a great cover. the imperfections match the song so well. to those of you who don't like this version, i don't know what to say because to me it's beautiful. so full of emotion, and it speaks to me on a personal level. this song abandons the pop quality of the original. and that's what makes it great.
