Fun Welsh language fact: we all know that in Welsh F makes a V sound and the English F sound is actually spelt Ff. But did you know that this is also found in English? Sure we may be taught that this pronunciation is different from English, but there’s two very simple words that would be the same otherwise. Those words are “of” and “off,” of being pronounced as Ov and off being pronounced as Of. Interesting stuff!

Just an aside - as new words come into the language, who specifically decides that words are 'male' or 'female' - is there a committee who meets twice a year? I am being serious, who makes the decision on new words genders.
