Yes, we're talking about joining NYU DENTAL in the vibrant city that never sleeps, where the most extravagant bars, restaurants, and shopping await you. But NYU Dental is not just about the city-it's about transforming into a Doctor of Dental Surgery while experiencing unparalleled professional growth and personal development.
In this video, we'll explore:
🏫 NYU Dental: the comprehensive curriculum.
🌆 Living in NYC: A Lifestyle Like No Other
🤔 Preparing for Dental School Acceptance
🚀 Your future as a dental professional begins here.
Get ready to embrace the cosmopolitan living that NYU Dental offers!
SIDE NOTE: Yes, there is a lot of bad things said about NYU Dental. A lot of it has truth to it, I am not denying these claims. Theres pros and cons to every dental school. However, when faced with the idea of following your dreams and becoming a doctor or declining your only potential acceptance into this profession, I would chose the former 10/10 times and make the best of it.

13 minutes and you spent most of it talking about factors outside the school. I don’t see the long term benefit you’re talking about when it comes to partying in expensive night clubs. Nothing is stopping a student from going to a dental school elsewhere at half the cost and then moving to nyc. Paying back 600k in a saturated area like nyc is crazy difficult. Makes sense you had to leave to a rural area. I want to do the same, without spending the unjustifiable tuition. Im glad you enjoyed your time at least. Every other testimony on nyu I’ve seen attests the opposite. Thanks for sharing

i try to be as unbiased as possible. i made a “say no to nyu” video and i wanted to highlight the positives of my life experiences and tried to make the best of my circumstances and talk about it. i appreciate your honest feedback david ! i just don’t think dental school in general prepares you for the real world and that’s more generalized and not specific to NYU. my advice is always go to the cheapest school but i did live out my dream of living in NYC for 4 years. something people only dream of or only see in the movies. what were your thoughts on the say no video

NYU is one of the most controversial schools in the country for a number of reasons. Thanks for the video explaining your experience and perspective.

I have a number of questions for you actually 1. Do you struggle paying off your student loans now in Florida? 2. Did you graduate with under a million dollars in total COA? 3. Do you feel that being able to see 4-5 patients a day prepared you enough for work as a new grad? 4. What procedures were you comfortable with as a new grad that you had learned within school? 5. Why didn’t you stay in New York to work? 6. I see the Switch in the back, what do you play?😅

1. by moving rural, I was able to make a big first year salary that helped with loans, but they still suck to pay off. if loan payment is your primary objective move away because the really high paying jobs are out there if you want them. 2. yes 3. dental school prepares you for nothing in private practice. you will learn just about everything on the job. it will be painful to go through, but so fun and rewarding to actually do real world dentistry and not "kindergarten" aka dental school dentistry. 4. I was comfortable with injections right out of school. Even to say a new grad is good at restorative out of school would be hyperbole at most because you've never seen your work withstand the test of time. The pace of private practice also is extremely different than in school. Can you do that 2 hour filling procedure in dental school in 20 minutes at the same level of clinical efficiency? Im still not very good at fillings, but I am actively trying to get better. 5. You need to do a mandatory residency (GPR) to work in NYC. This is a scam to pay licensed doctors the wages of the dental assistants in low income areas and call it "Training". Theres a handful of really good residency programs out there and if you can get in, it can pay off tremendously. If you choose to work in a big city right out of school, be prepared because dentistry in these locations is ruthless. Competition is brutal, patient expectations are sky high, and possible very low salary working multiple part time jobs. It will be very hard to make a living while still trying to learn dentistry, in my opinion. 6. I bring the switch to work sometimes haha my favorites are Super Smash Bros (I use Marth/Kirby) , Mario Kart, and Mario Party. Looking for some new game recs, if you have any. What do you play?

@@DoctorRanaDDS thanks so much for the detailed response! I do aim to go rural to learn a lot and make more! Single with nothing tying me down to a specific area. I play Mario Kart and Smash predominantly

Sounds like someone got you to drink the CoolAid after your last video. Faculty here.. are you aware there are approx 380 full time faculty but over 750 part time adjuncts? Part time as they work for pay on a par with Burger King and receive NO benefits. Sorry if we tend to be a little older.. younger people are in their offices trying to pay off their loans.

i understand. it’s just frustrating when we are paying so much money and it feels like nobody cares about us. it’s really not about the faculty as it is about the administration. why are they paying so little to doctors to teach? only to maximize their own profits which is sad in itsslf

Thank you! And okay gotcha, that's cool you were able to find a place in Manhattan. I was accepted 2 months ago but reddit has been putting me down about NYU so I've been accepting more interviews. But now I'm considering it again. I have my toes dipped in but this video makes me wanna jump right in. Thank you man @@DoctorRanaDDS
