Never had that issue with retail stores but it seems like you have some broken cc in the game that's making it do that. Also the "deeply in love" sentiment is something all sims get when they propose maybe they should have an open marriage (that would be an interesting story line). The relationship seems a bit one sided. Javis is rich and his bored so that's why he's playing "How to catch a cheater"
