You are right, and may be even more once you know that this sayaguesa cattle is used in a breeding program to 'reinvent' the European auroch which roamed the continent in ancient times.

Wow! Those are impressive cattle Monique! Your opening pan of the landscape was perfection. I like the pace of the video, it matched to slow cows. It was a treat to see the baby nursing. Mama had large horns! The music choice was also excellent. It too matched the pace. Well done!!!

Indeed, the endangered cattle from Zamora! Many good things come from Spain ;). Did you know the sayaguesa are part of a breeding program for the European auroch? I was not aware of that. In 4 or 5 areas in the Netherlands the sayaguesa are used to graze the trees and bushes to keep open spaces for heather.

Deze video vond ik heel erg mooi om te zien. En dat ze bruin worden geboren vind ik ook wel interessant want dat wist ik niet. Heel bijzonder omdat deze runderen zwart zijn. Wel jammer dat het kalf geen vriendjes had om mee te spelen . Wens je mooie natuurmomenten toe.

Bedankt Tine, in totaal zijn er 65 van deze dieren daar op de Veluwe, misschien zijn er in andere groepen nog kalfjes. Deze is nog erg jong en bleef ook telkens dicht bij de ouders. Groetjes!

Bonsoir Monique, superbes images de cette petite famille bovine... Des bêtes impressionantes, moi je rencontre beaucoup de troupeaux de vaches dans les alpages quand je fais mes randonnées en montagne, mais quand il y a un taureau je me méfie car ils peuvent devenir agressifs quand on traverse le troupeau de vaches, même certaines vaches ont tendance à charger quelques fois, surtout les jeunes genisses quand elles viennent juste d'être mises dans les paturages au printemps... UNEmicalement; Jacques

Merci Jacques. Aux Pays-Bas, il est conseillé de garder au moins 25 mètres du bétail. Les vaches protègent leurs petits et peuvent alors attaquer de manière inattendue. Le sayaguesa semble être relativement calme à cet égard. Meilleures salutations

Lieve Monique, opnieuw schoonheid voor ogen en oren. Kun je me alsjeblieft iets meer schrijven over het vee dat in de film zit? Ik ben een zootechnicus en ik ken dergelijk vee niet. Men kan zien dat hij vrij op het platteland leeft, resistent moet zijn en dat zelfs jonge mensen zonder menselijke hulp vrij in het wild worden geboren. Ik heb geprobeerd je aanbevolen pagina te vinden, maar deze werkt niet. Ik kijk uit naar je reactie en heel erg bedankt voor de prachtige film. Jarmila

Hi Jarmila, you may have read the information Tine pointed out to you already. Sayaguesa are an endangered breed of cattle from Spain of which only a couple of hundred are left. In The Netherlands there are a few populations, imported from Spain and they graze in nature reserves, to keep spaces open by eating shrubs and young trees. There are no fences between the cattle and the visitors, the bovines can roam free. Sayaguesa are said to be non aggresive. Hope this answers your questions.

Gracias Eduardo, la película está grabada en los Países Bajos. Allí, estos bovinos españoles se colocan en reservas naturales para mantener el páramo abierto, para que no crezcan árboles.
