If it makes you feel any better, basically every youtube tips person I started watching during the pandemic is now a vlogger and i’ve become used to watching them. A lot of them do things like “a day in NYC” “a day in NC”. I don’t have enough insight on your day to day aside from motherhood, but just film stuff you are already doing that is already making you happy. One thing i’ve always appreciated about being here is how conversational you are. If you even posted more videos like this sitting at your desk talking, i’d watch. Whatever you do, im here to watch

In my opinion, the problem is you’re all about yourself instead of the viewers. “What content to I want to create?” “What brands do I want to work with?” But then you say your tagline is “Create a life YOU love.” You should be creating content for your target viewer and not just for yourself. In what way are you actually helping people create a life they love? The daily vloggers that get views are all about helping the viewer through specific lifestyle tips and they are usually very engaging. They aren’t just vlogging. They are story telling and selling a lifestyle. Like this video…it’s interesting but not really helpful for the viewer. You’ll get sponsors again when you engage a target audience.

Your KZbin tips videos were so well-executed, professional, and clarifying. I totally understand wanting to have a more "me-centered: film, cut, and go" vlog. I definitely understand new baby days, also. Is there a way for you to continue making the excellent quality of the past but with topics that you actually love? Your ability to teach educational content is your great strength, adding the most value to the most people (at the cost of unfiltered self-expression). "Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." Blessings on your baby and early motherhood...I know what it is like!

What you really mean, even if you don't know it, is that this lady makes vacuous content with no redeeming value and it reminds you of earlier times when you would listen to a friend in real life prattle on about themselves, before you forsook that real life and fully entered the matrix of social media. My advice is if this sort of content feels like a warm home made meal to you then your life is a damn mess, you have no real friends or family, it's all your fault....get it together.

Cathrin, have you ever considered making your "KZbin Tips" videos private? When I started on YT, I was making a lot of content about hair loss (I made a hair transplant vlog that blew up) and EVERY VIDEO that I made that wasn't about hair loss, tanked horribly. I ended up making a lot of the hair loss videos private in order to pivot the audience and the algorithm and it worked (it took time and a ton of work but it eventually worked) and now NO ONE knows me for hair loss and hair transplants anymore. I just wanted to share that with you because I can relate to being stuck in a niche that you don't want. I love your videos, your realness and vulnerability. I watch almost all of your videos and can relate to you very much as a mother. Sending a hug from creator to creator.

I also love home content and travel content so now I stick around and I watch because it's like I get these fun vlogs mixed with some real talk where I feel we are having a conversation even though you're talking and I'm listening it's a bit one-sided but you know what it's fine lol ;) oh and demographic wise I'm probably out of your norm, early 40s mother of a 23-year-old living in the UK. I just wanted to take a sec and thank you! I've been here since 2019 and I honestly came for the KZbin tips because I wanted to start creating content on KZbin and started making videos in the pandemic. But I stayed for YOU! It's so rewarding as a viewer to see you blossom so much and meeting you at workshop tour and seeing you seriously thrive but also be SO REAL and authentic makes you a rare find on here! Back in 2020, I followed all your tips and saw some growth making videos that made me happy and I was SO disciplined and upload a video every Friday and didn't miss an upload for like 3 years? Then life happened and I had to miss one upload and I was SO hard on myself. It was like losing a streak and I gradually just stopped uploading altogether. I felt like well, if I can't be consistent I'm not going to grow so why bother. I lost all the joy I had making the videos I started with. Then with more life happening I'm hoping to start making videos again and now seeing Cathrin Manning: who I look up to so much as a creator just saying Fck It and doing what she wants is exactly what I needed to hear. I love the idea of just filming, editing, uploading, and whatever that timeline looks like is the when a video goes up. So I just wanted to say thank you for being you and sharing your journey with us! You are helping people more than you think ♥

I feel that deep inside we all fantasize with being able to make it into KZbin and earning money doing it and even though we don't live past just that thought watching KZbinrs show you the ins and outs if what they successfully do is enough to want to keep tuned in. Once you establish yourself as that type of KZbinr your public keeps following to get that from you but when they switch gears on you and do something different it's hard to get used to it.

I want to love content creation again too. The algorithm has me pinned to a certain type of videos that I no longer want to make, but that's how my channel keeps growing. I don't have as many true fans as you. My channel feels more transactional. They come, get what they want and leave. Makes me feel well, blah. Pivoting has not been good or easy for my channel. This is the best advice for her. The channel is so pointless now. She’s not Kim k and she hadn’t built that strong of an audience to care about her random day to day life like that. She’s just uploading random videos about her and it’s like if you’re going to do that people need to be really interested in your personal life and that’s just not the case. Okay so I also followed Sunny Lenarduzzi and Vanessa Lau and literally took what they said as the absolute best advice and truth. When you said "take advice from someone who has the life you want" it SO hit home. What I find interesting is that while Vanessa Lau was sharing advice on how to grow a business and sharing behind the scenes of her business, it was very clear that she really didn't know what she was doing when it came to scaling her business. To the point where she's basically thrown in the towel with it now and even moved all of her courses to a free to run platform vs the expensive one she used to use and recommend. It was definitely a lesson for me in who I take advice from and follow! Love that you're leaning in to what feels right for YOU! Here for whatever content your decide to put out! Also - you asked "why have people stuck around". For me it's because I'm here because I like you, and your authenticity and personality has always shown through whatever content you've created ♥

I subscribed to your channel a long time ago for the YT tips but stayed because of you, your personality. Love your motto of creating a life you love. Will stick with you as long as you are on YT. Also follow you on the other socials because you’re great so don’t sell yourself short. 😊

Long time viewer and one of those people who watch everything! Just a thought to consider- so many of us love your content because you come across as being 100% genuine, and we’re just here for the story of your life. 😊 I think where you might be struggling mentally is how to show YOUR life on YT when such a big part of your life is not revealed on your channel. (And again, I get it, it’s 100% your call.) But I know I would personally struggle with having a vlog style channel about my life without including the BIGGEST love of my life- my hubby.❤ My guess is that you’re just struggling with how to keep that genuine feeling while also editing out some of the most important pieces of of your life.

I’m watching because it is you! You are you brand! And i will keep watching but to be real even though i love vlog, i still would love to see how to tips regarding filming, editing and film storage

I watch all your videos, my favorites were the vlogs from your previous house. I would love to see more day-in-the-life style content, which I think is versatile enough that you can incorporate showing your audience how you do KZbin to create the life you love, which in turn inspires others to use KZbin to create the life they love. Side note, would you consider offering a course/group coaching on blogging?

I absolutely agree with you! I love Vlogs! I watch all of your videos but the Vlog style are my favorite. Honestly that’s why I create Vlogs as about 50% of my Content because they’re so fun to watch & make. But I have way less subs than you so I still have to do some value ad stuff to lure people 🤣 I’m excited for this next chapter! Thanks for sharing your thought process and strategy as well. That’s incredibly helpful and inspiring ❤

I've never totally grasped the purpose of a niche, other than pleasing the algorithm. (Which could be why my channel has never taken off..) TV channels have variety, why can't KZbin channels? I think it enables creator burnout. So just keep rolling with those punches!

💯 exactly how I feel. It’s absolutely true … the niche just puts you in a box you can’t get out of

Hey Catherine I don't usually comment but I have been watching your channel for at least 3 years. Let me just tell you I am a busy mom to 5 girls to 5 girls. If i could give you a piece of advice I would love to. I remember a while back when you mentioned that you were like basically going to vlog and still give the tips you always have given. So I just assumed you were going to merge you life into what you were already doing. I said to myself when you got pregnant yesss now I really can relate. She is going to show me how to be a mom and a great content creator. With that being said keep doing what your doing girl we love you. No matter where you shift I will still watch. I think i speak for many when i say we love your channel for you not so much what you do. That is just a bonus that you are so knowledgable about the platforms. We love you get back to the tips i still go back and watch your older videos can we get some updated recreated older videos.

I started watching you when you were in the ~55K or so subscriber mark because of some other KZbinr who recommended your channel as a "best kept secret" and they couldn't understand why you didn't have more subscribers. I really enjoyed your content; however, as you slowly started to make your channel more personal, I fell in love with it. I really enjoyed when you had a topic and at the same time we got to see the "real" you. I loved your Vlogs (and especially love your xmas marathons). I guess what I'm here to say is I'm one of those people who seem to enjoy whatever you do and am here supporting you.

We have stuck with you because we love you and love hanging out with you and just want you in our lives :) you’ve grown so much over the years and can’t wait to see what happens next!!

Keep doing you. I relate 100%. I’m 48 can still trying to find my voice. I know what I want and very passionate about, but the fear of rejection and battling many other things, raise up as soon as I step in the door. I started watching you, yes because I was looking to start a KZbin channel. Which is slowly happening….lol but it’s your honesty and showing real life s***t that brings me back every week. I’m personally excited to see you grow as a mom and future wife and still do what you love! Is it going to be easy…NO, can you do it YES! You got this. Know you’ve taught me a lot and totally agree with getting back around those like minded people. (I’m still finding mine people)

I found you during the pandemic and have been watching you non stop for I guess 4 years now. My favorite kind of videos from you are your daily vlogs or when you just talk about your day. Keep making what you love and the ones who need to be here will be here. Enjoy your content and we will too.

I’m only half way through but I LOVE THIS so much already. I really relate bc I have 2 YT channels that have never really popped off. and I’m at this point too where I’m just done people pleasing. I’m now gearing up to start a fresh new channel that I really love & I needed to hear a lot of what you spoke on today. Also if it means anything: I have stuck with your channel through all the changes you mentioned for a few years now, and - it’s you, Cathrin. You’re the constant that keeps me around! So whatever you do I’m excited to see what you do now that you’re doing YOU!

thanks for this video. I actually enjoy following people who don't have advertising in their vlog and post less often. because then I'm really happy when there is a new video. I watch them all the way through. If someone posts often I get bored and I notice that I fast forward or don't look anymore. just do what makes you happy, that's the most important thing. if you are happy with it, the people are often happy with it too❤️

I've actually watched you when trying to figure out how to grow on KZbin a few years ago and seriously thanks for the help and motivation along the way. As far as rebranding I'm sure you know this but find something you enjoy learning about/talking about and make that your niche. I feel like you have enough core audience to jump to a whole different niche of whatever you wish that to be. Good luck in your journey and I will continue to watch!

I use to film so much but after having my second child I focused all on my website and it has exceeded the revenue that my youtube ever did! Just give yourself grace and do you! I love whatever you upload. Things change so much when you have kids, esp when they are young and growing and changing all the time!

Coming back to this video to leave a comment after watching it on my TV when it first came out. I’m one of those people who watches every single one of your videos in their entirety. Although I don’t think I usually leave comments. I don’t care much about KZbin strategy other than to hear your experience and learn something new. It’s not something I would actively seek out. I watch your stuff because I like you as a person and I like your vlogs. I’m rooting for you lady!

Trying to do the same thing over and over to please an algorithm is super hard. We are human and it isn’t. Change is very normal even if the interwebs expects us to function like a computer to be rewarded views.

I understand how you feel! My gut feeling has been telling me to transition into more vlog style videos. But I've been too scared in case it has a negative impact on my channel, not that I have a big following. Maybe it's time to make the transition! 😱

The biggest thing I've learned about myself as a youtube consumer is that I will continue watching content because I like the creator. I'm a dog mom and childfree, so I cant relate to the baby content, but because its you and your baby, I'm invested. I've been here since just before you moved to Alabama, like just pre-vlog account. Honestly I've felt like you've followed the "Zac Efron effect" as in your content has changed exactly to what I've needed in my life, in different stages of my life. So while I cant speak for everyone, whatever you decide to do and what makes you happy, is what makes the the content and what we love about you shine bright. Can't wait! ❤

I followed you before being a mom (i am a mom of two). I followed because how different you recorded your lifestyle vlogs. Speaking about me: i started youtube as a mom for a lifestyle motherhood vlogs. Sadly the motherhood lifestyle followers were commenting tons of negative aspect or criticism my life or my choices. About two months ago i decided to stop with the motherhood videos and i feel JOY. I changed my niche and dont regret it

To answer your own question - because you're real! You show us the ups and downs, I've been here since The Content Bug days and loved the tips videos but while you've grown it's been lovely to see how that has worked out. You have to adapt to how your everyday life is changing and all this needs to fit in with you, it's definitely a journey and we're with you for the ride😊
