Just wonderful to hear this guitar played with such feel & precision. I can remember seeing it in the Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney in the 90s & felt privileged to be in its company.

As I get older I realise the people who matter are those who mould our culture via the arts. David Bowie and Mick Ronson are certainly two of them.

Hey it made me cry that axe and the genius that wielded it on stage with ziggy were part of my teenage years mick ronson was/is one of the greatest rock guitarists of a generation the generation that embraced guitar solos melodic chord shapes and experimentation ask def leopards lead singer JOE ELLIOT who the worlds greatest guitarist is and he will reply MICK RONSON.

I’ve said it before elsewhere, I went to see Bowie in ‘72 but it was Ronno that captivated me. Changed my life in such a good way. A true hero of mine. Thanks for this.

Magic. I went and saw the remastered 50th Anniversary Ziggy/Spiders movie after watching this video and learning about Ronno's/your guitar Rick. Appreciated it all the more, thank you.

Such a great story about an incredible guitar. Don't feel sad, or guilty about your decision. Sometimes we make choices that end up making everything work out in the end.

Very emotional video. I absolutely understand why you sold it and that the money was put to beneficial use for yourself and your family. But I also can understand how horrible you must have felt. When I imagine to have this guitar in my possession, I am thinking "No way in hell would I ever sell the guitar that Ronson played the unforgettable Moonage Daydream solo on and that has been licked numerous times by David Bowie! Just to let it hang on some rich dudes wall. Never!"

If I had owned that guitar it would have been buried with me. I felt bad when he put it in the case and started crying. He said goodbye to a good friend (that he never met) as well.

Hey Rick, do you happen to know who their luthier was that did all the work for Mick and Ian? Appears to be pretty customized. Its a long shot but I have a very old stripped LP that also has lots of custom repairs/mods and the initials I.H. carved in the back of the headstock (no serial). Like a said, a long shot, but was thinking maybe Ian Hunter?

Why'd you get rid of the original video of you showing the guitar? It had the amp and the pedals too that Suzi just gave you free of charge.

Mick Ronson was Ziggy and Bowie was the Spider from Mars. The always uncomfortable with himself Bowie spent the rest of his life sheepishly knowing the happy confident and eternally handsome Mick created the Bowie persona and sound while the eternally humble Mick spent the rest of his life not caring. "Ziggy played guitar"

I wonder how much it went for. At auction that would have to be one of the most expensive guitars ever. I hope whoever owns does not let it sit in a closet and that is is actually played and shared.

I don't think that was the original one. The original one had a stripped top, but the sides, back and head stock were black. Also 2 of the knobs were black, and 2 were gold........
@lucasjwaggle4 жыл бұрын
He stripped off the rest of the paint after the headstock broke and was repaired, he later gave the guitar to a friend and the knobs could’ve been replaced at any time. It’s the real deal.
