I know your heart is broken and especially Aspen being your first four legged kid. Aspen was so special in every way. We have had 5 Australian Shepherds and lost the third one during Covid. We have two kids with us now and will not be getting any more. We are up in age and there is a time you just have to say no more kids. They are such a joy. God see’s your tears and pain in your heart. Honey, my suggestion to you is after you grieve and you get better. Think about getting another Aussi. That is the only way I dealt with my torn up heart with grief. You are in another country and it will give you comfort and a time to heal. My Aussie passed suddenly this past Jan at 12yrs. I don’t have the words. I havnt been the same tbh. I miss her so much and it doesn’t even feel like she’s gone, I feel like she’s just lost somewhere and I’ll find her someday. I can still feel her head in my hands laying there. She was in so much pain and there was nothing I could do as she took her last couple of breaths. You raise them when they’re a baby. Teach them things , learn from them. They start becoming apart of the family instead of a pet. Developing a character. It’s not fair because all they give is unconditional love. I hope you find the strength to keep going as I try to.

So, so sorry for your loss. Two years+ ago I loss my Sunny Day Sundance. She was diabetic and had a severe diabetic episode, the problem was when it first started I didn't recognize it, by time I did it was too late and there was nothing that could be done. I still blame myself, I should have seen it when it started. So I fully understand your grief. My heart is broken 💔 for you. I'm so sorry, Aspen was a beautiful baby, and she knew how much you loved her. I wish that I had better words to help with your pain. I pray for healing of your heart. Two years ago I had a pup that passed at 8 months from lymphoma and for the 6 months I had herin my life she was a valuable member of my family. My boyfriend and I are both getting an aussie puppy each at the end of the month... I started watching your videos because I'm eager to learn more and then I found this one. I am choking back tears for you and I am so incredibly sorry to hear how aspen passed. I just watched you and aspen and it is so clear the love you two had between each other. You gave her such a beautiful life and she was blessed to have you as a life partner. I still have my childhood dog since I was 13 and i'm now 23, She has seen me through every growing pain I've had and milestone I've ever had, shes been through 3 apartments, tons of boyfriends, many of my friendships, and so much more. I am buying my first house as well by the end of the month and I feel so grateful that she will be there to experience her own backyard for the first time. I'm crying and dreading the day I ever have to say goodbye to her because she really feels like a daughter to me. Every day I wake up and she is still with me is the best day. and It really is terrible how short their life spans are compared to us. The love we have for these animals is not weird, they are truly the most amazing relationships we ever get to experience. again I am beyond hurt for you and sorry for your loss, I hope you're doing better now and I give you props for being such an amazing owner.

sooo heartbreaking! I lost my Aussie 4 yrs ago, and I still cry over her…..and I always will. She was my partner, not my dog.She completely tore her ACL when she was 11, and had atypical Cushings, so was nit a good candidate for surgery. I found someone on the internet that makes custom leg braces for dogs who have torn their ACL. I would suggest that if you ever have a dog that tears their ACL. I wish I could remember the name of the guy, but, sorry, I can’t. I also just recently read that spaying a dog while still very young can make them more susceptible to ACL tears. Hannah was spayed before her first heat cycle, so that fits. That is doubly horrific that you were far away from her. Hannah had a sudden massive heart attack at 121/2. She wasbtruly a PERFECT dog….not a bad habit and we were so connected. I am very glad, at least, that I was with her and got to say goodbye and tell her I love her

I haven't kept up and am only now seeing this. I'm sorry she was lost at such a young age. Aspen was the dog that came up when I first started looking at getting an Aussie. I watched a lot of videos about Aussies at the time, but Aspen is the only one I remember by name. I was pretty open with regard to what breed to get, so the fact that I decided to get an Aussie (and a tri-black one at that) probably is largely due to Aspen (and quality videos about how to find a good breeder, etc.). To this day, even though I haven't kept up, I still frequently recall an excerpt from the lyrics of the old intro song in interacting with my Chester. Everyday, when we are getting ready for "walk", I ask him if "walk" is his "favorite thing." Thanks for sharing Aspen and your knowledge on finding the right dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Be at peace, playing by the Rainbow Bridge, Aspen. When my girl, Honey (a born deaf/blind double merle) passed away last month (June 8), it was a hard final decline over a 4 week period (that included her 16th birthday on June 1. This passing was anticipated over the last year or so, but she had so much life and will, and her quality of life was steady until the last 4 weeks. I watched as she took her final breath only a foot or so away from me. I honestly feel that she hung on to make sure I'd be okay. I buried her a few hours later. I can't imagine the horror you went thru, and being an ocean away only worsening things. I'm glad for your future plans...including how to prevent a tragedy like this from happening to other families. In the meantime, take all the time in the world to grieve...until you're ready (as I'm doing the same thing). My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family.

I just want you to know that I started watching your videos before we got our first dog in 2018, and it really helped us towards the decision of having our own companion. We now have two dogs and I completely understand the bond you are talking about. For some of us, these dogs are our family members, and we love them with every ounce of ourselves. I would do anything for my dogs. I'm so so sorry this had to happen in such a sudden manner, before her time. Im so sorry for your loss 😢 i lost my labrador two years ago very suddenly to pancreatits. The day before he was playing about as normal and the day after he'd collapsed. His Pancreas had ruptured possibly a few days before, causing sepsis to set in. He had no symptoms, acted completely himself. I miss him every day, the day he passed i didnt want to sleep because i didnt want it to be real, to wake up to no lucius on my bed. He was only 5 years old but it was his time to go, even though i wish he could have be3n with me forever 😢

I am so sorry for the loss of Aspen😢 This really hits home as I almost lost my dog a few weeks ago in a similar situation. I actually found your videos from seeing the video after Aspen had dental extractions as that is what my dog needed. He had gotten attacked and had a broken tooth that needed to be removed. He didn’t react well to the narcotics that were given and became very nauseous during pre anesthesia and he stopped breathing under anesthesia and needed mechanical ventilation. When he was sent home we had many complications including having to be hospitalized for hemorrhagic gastroenteritis due to the pain meds and narcotics given. He was leaking bloody diarrhea and it was the most horrible scary situation I’ve ever dealt with. I can’t even imagine what I’d do if I lost him 😢😢😢 Again I’m so sorry for the loss of your girl💔

First off, I am very sorry for your loss. I went through pretty much the same thing last July and know exactly how you feel. My Aussie (Arwen) had just turned 8 a few months earlier. She was my first dog too. She was my everything. I was also in the works of getting a second Aussie (Lzzy), who was born a week after I lost my first dog. My dog had what was probably a stroke. It was very sudden. During my mourning and waiting for Lzzy to be ready to leave it’s mother, I started watching KZbin channels of Aussies. I am so sorry for your loss. I've been giving Benadryl before and after vaccines for both of our dogs. One of them actually did have some angioedema symptoms (swelling of eyes and lips) after vaccine in the past and we are very careful about any possible allergies to medication/vaccines to our dogs. I have never thought about the prophylactic antibiotic causing anaphylaxis though. Something to definitely keep it mind for the future. Thank you for sharing your story.

Omg when I got Champ I used your videos to train him!!! Then last week the vet said he was at his end! I still didn’t believe it ! The years went by too fast! I never had such a loyal, obedient dog! Thanks to your video he picked up his commands so easily! We woke up and he had died in his sleep! Just the night before he played, rode in side by side, and was super loving! Champ & Aspen meets in Rainbow heaven. A week before we lost Champ we pick one of his young ones! We were hoping Champ would help train because he was good with pups! But we lost him before we could bring Chip home to meet granddad Champ! Today we got Chip hoping he’s a Chip off the old block! It’s bittersweet, Champ was tri red with golden brown eyes and Chip is red Meryl with blue eyes! He does have his white yoke under neck and hopefully his personality! Looking so forward to using your Aspen technique to train this little one. I understand your grief, Aspen was special & our Aussies take a part of our ❤❤❤ Thanks for sharing your journey with Aspen it made my life with Champ the best! Day by day it gets better! Well, I cried all through this video. I also lost my tri colored Aussie at 8 years old unexpectedly to lung cancer. He was never sick a day in his life. My very best friend. I cried for a year. EVERYDAY. One day I was ready to release the pain. Now I smile when I think of him. Praying for your healing as you adjust to life without Aspen. I started watching your videos when I did I search for how to groom an Aussie. Your Aspen was just a couple years old then I think. I have been following you ever since. I especially enjoyed your video on Vaccines. I had already done extensive research on vaccines, food, pesticides in the grass. Anything to try to figure out what happened to cause his lung cancer. I had already decided not to vaccinate after my next dog had his/her 1 year vaccines. When I watched your video, I knew we were on a similar path of discovery. I had a little mostly yorkie for 23 years. She died of old age two years ago and I still miss her something awful. I swore I would never get another dog but recently I was contacted about an Australian Aussie who needs a new home. She is six years old and I'm going to get her the day after tomorrow. She is almost the same colour as Aspen. How could a loss like that not break your heart but you wouldn't give up the good times to save yourself the pain.

I lost my boy back in March, and for those of us who do bond deeply with our dogs, it is no different than losing a child.. I ended up telling very few people because too many just told me to get another dog. Nobody would say that to someone who lost a child. Every dog I have owned and lost holds a unique place in my heart. You work past it, but you never get over it. One is not a substitute for another. I'm getting an Aussie puppy in September, because I can't imagine life without a dog.. I'm older now, so hopefully we will leave this time together. I'm not sure I can bear another lose like this, and simple go on.

In my opinion antibiotics are terrible , however whenever cutting into bone I’m pretty sure they just do a kind of default treatment with them . They should not use them until they know for sure they are needed. But really hard for you im sorry I had a similar experience where my dog died not even a month after their surgery and it was so hard on them. If my dog ever gets a injury bad enough to need surgery I think I would just put them down. It’s horrible but that way the suffering is less. I’m so sorry you lost your girl.
