Saying Goodbye to Leo

Hi everyone. I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving (if you celebrate... if not, I hope you all have a great weekend regardless.) I'm so thankful for all the time I got to share with Leo & the memories he gave to everyone who was a part of his life. Leo passed away on November 12th, 2022. This video was filmed on November 18th, but it took me a few days to work up the energy to edit - and a few more days to gather all the old photos & video clips. Since last week, I am feeling a lot better. Although I'm still sad & miss Leo so very much. Thank you so much for all the love, support, and condolences so far. I will be reading each and every message later tonight / throughout the weekend & responding to as many of you as I can. So far, I see quite a few of you have dealt with or are currently dealing with grief from loss of your own fur baby / fur babies. I am so sorry to those of you who are struggling with loss. It's such a difficult time to go through. ❤︎ Art videos will return as soon as possible. I'm ready to begin creating again & as always can't wait to share my creations with you.

Idk if you’ll see this but if you do, PLEASE try to be kind to yourself. ❤ Try your best not to do the woulda/shoulda/coulda statements, that’s only dragging you into negativity. I say that because I did that to myself until someone told me to knock it off. My dog had seizures and I ended up putting him down because they kept getting worse. Not saying that for sympathy, more to let you know that I understand that pain and suffering of wondering if there was something I missed or the “I should have known better, he’s my baby” thoughts. The important thing is that you took the absolute BEST care of him!!! All he knew was your love. We could see how much you loved him, so he definitely felt it!! Obviously saying this isn’t a “magic feel better cure”, but hopefully over time it’ll help. Being in the middle of the grief process sucks, but hopefully things will happen that remind you of silly memories with Leo and it’ll help your heart, even just a little. Cats are good at hiding their illnesses, definitely. Pets are our family. You are not alone feeling sad. When one of my best buddies passed and I let myself cry ( sob, actually) for as long as I needed. Which was months. Almost a year later I have been blessed with a little girl. My three old guys are just thrilled 🤭

Oh Sarah.... I feel so incredibly sorry for you. We lost our cat Lilly the exact same way. This brought tears to my eyes, because I remember this terrible day like yesterday. We just had this happen with my aunts dog. We did at home fluids around the clock. They were hopeful that it was reversible and just a sudden infection but after 2 weeks of constant care she just couldn’t handle it any more and she was in pain. In her last blood work she had reached end stage 4 CKD and also her pancreas was in a flare and she was just in pain and nauseated and we tried everything. Just like Leo it started with a murmur diagnosis that was new and it just went downhill so fast. I assure you he wasn’t suffering long. You’d have noticed other symptoms even if he was a cat notorious for hiding Illness. You can see it in his mannerisms in his videos. I promise you your fur baby wasn’t hurting long and loved you more than his meows could convey. You did so much and so much more than most pet parents can do or are able to do. Thank you for taking such good care of him. Big hugs.

Literally started crying when you started talking about your last moments with Leo and the pictures and video you guys got. 😭😭 a part of me thinks it was easier for me to not have to face those moments when Kiki left but the other part of me wishes I could have spent my last moment with me. Man I cried so much throughout this video. I'm so sorry you lost Leo. I know how you feel I lost my dog back in 2019 and one week he was is same usual happy, active, loving self. The next week he wasn't doing good, he wasn't eating or drinking, wasn't using the bathroom, would walk like he was stumbling until he wouldn't walk at all he would always sleep. I hopped on Google to look at the signs and all pointed to death. When he went my heart broke. Leo will be loved and missed and all you can do is just thank him for the time you spent together, the love and bond you to shared and the positivity that you have bough to each other. This news is heart breaking, and I really feel for the loss you are working through. Catching bad health signs that are not so obvious are almost impossible, so I hope hind sight being 20/20 does not get the better of you. You loved Leo and he had a great life from what I have seen and heard you speak of over the years I am aware of. I am so sorry for your loss. We had to put our dog down last year due to cancer, and it doesn't get any easier, but it does get manageable. Leo was such a sweet cat. I loved watching him in your videos. Some of my favorite times were when he would lay on your artwork preventing you from working and when he would knock over you supplies. He will be so missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my orange boy earlier this year. He had a heart murmur as well too...his kidneys ended up failing in the end as well... I know your pain and wish I could take it away. He was a beautiful orange man! You did everything and more than you could. He loves you and is with you still and always will be.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It will get better but it will take time. It may take you a different amount time. So let yourself greve. I just lost my emotional support dog recently, she was only 4 years old. It happened very quickly. So do not blame yourself.

I am watching your video and crying my eyes out. What a beautiful cat Leo was and you were and are a wonderful Mom to him, never underestimate the loving care you gave him. I’ve lost many cats in the last few years, young & old, and when they get sick, saying goodbye never gets easy. You are a hero who went above and beyond for handsome Leo and you both made the world a better place! As hard as it is, I value The fact that one day, I will be seeing my beloved pets again in heaven.
