I don't know why KZbin suggested this to me now, but it was a very nice video tribute. My cat was born in 2001 and died in 2019, also at the age of 18, after becoming increasingly weaker over months. He stopped eating and drinking and retreated to the darkest corner of the house. He didn't want to live. My sister held him in her arms just like the woman in the video and I stood next to him as a grown man and cried when he passed at the vet. He has accompanied me my whole life, experienced the death of my mother, my grandmother, my aunt and other people as well as several moves, he was always there for me, even comforted me when I had a toothache. And even if I wasn't always fair to him, I was always there for him. The love that we give to other animals, they give back to us. We are all animals, we are all part of a cycle that ends at some point.

She's such a sweetheart! 😢 I can feel your loss, ... ❤️ as we lost our brown tabby cat on 4 of October this year. The veterinarian came at home to put her for eternal sleep. She was almost 18 years old, and she's been family all her life. My husband and I are still crying every day. It seems we can not get over the grief... She was our baby, ... I believe one day we will meet again!

My heart grieves along with yours. May God bring comfort. My girl, Sox, was 17 when we had to put her to sleep. She had cancer. That was in 2002, and I will miss her for the rest of my life. Best cat ever 😥❤️🙏🐱 Yes, we will be together with our babies again. The sting of loss will ease, but take all the time you need to grieve. My girl is missed still.

I am so sorry for your loss😞. I had a cat named Aggie. I got her in July of 1993 when she was 8 weeks old. She lived to be 16 years old. She had a couple places on her sides that were busted open and bleeding. I took Aggie to the vet and the Veterinarian told me she was ate up with fleas. The Veterinarian was going to treat her for fleas but I decided it was best to have Aggie put to sleep 💔. She had a good life with me. I miss my Aggie 💔 but she's in a better place. RIP to Bonnie 🌹🌷💐❤🙏✌

I could not watch most of this; I live alone, having my third cat in 28 years. The previous two each broke my heart when I had to let them go, and I know how difficult it is. I had someone take me to the vet; I didn't feel I could safely drive being so upset. Thank you so much for the love you gave to Bonnie-she was beautiful, and like many kitties, an angel with fur and whiskers.

Omg I could not stop crying watching this and to be there right at the end with her when she took her last breath is the final act of love you could have given no matter how much it hurt you or the pain you felt after for weeks , I lost a pet I had for 10 years he took his last breath in my sons arms and I cried everyday for months I thought I would never get over it but I was so glad he died at home and I did not have to have him out to sleep . And you finding that little duck statue with the name Bonnie was just incredible what are the odds of that so she is still with you ❤️

So sorry for your loss. We just had to do the same last month for our beautiful 14 year old Golden Retriever Sophie. Two years previously, for our 12 year old Golden Duke. My 19 year old cat Echo decided to do it herself at home. She was perfectly fine that morning... asking for loving, eating, and just being herself. I left the house for 2 hours and came home to find her sleeping peacefully in an odd spot she would never usually sleep - under the kitchen table, which was the last place I saw her that morning. It was sad but really much easier on her people, I just hope it was fast for her because she was alone.

Watching your video made me cry. My wife and I had to face the same thing. Our Lilou was 14 years. The vet came to our house and it was done in a room she especially loved. We held her the whole time. It was, as if at fall a leaf is slowly flying down from a tree. Very soft. We also cried for a long time. Nevertheless our Lilou was with us still some weeks. My wife felt her presence and once I noticed her very quickly turning around our ash can as if she had light speed.

I have had to say goodbye to several beloved cats in the last several years. I am alone now with my cat of 16 of years. He is still super healthy and still runs around at times like a kitten. Being alone with health issues myself, he is what keeps me going each day. I know I may not have much longer with him. I dread the day where I will have to say goodbye. I burst into tears watching you say goodbye to Bonnie, reminding me of my previous losses, and another yet to come. My friends cat lived until she was 21 years. She had become her carer after her Mum passed away so she felt that Honey was a part of her mum. She was devastated when Honey passed. Our Gracie is 16 years and full of beans but we have to accept that one day she will pass too. Loving and caring for our animal friends is for me a privillage. I also have a little duck by the same company - not the same name as my cat, but bought on the last trip before I came home to find my cat terminally ill. Yeah my baby died the day after Christmas!😿I had known for almost a year that she was dying from cancer .the good thing was I didn't have to put her down .she died on her own, unfortunately she died in my arms the night after Christmas two hours after I came home from work and I told her it was all right to go to Kitty heaven.😭

The last things she ever knew were the touch of a familiar hand and the sound of a loved voice. You gave her a gentle and peaceful way out of her pain and she would thank you for that. I am always a complete sobbing mess when the time comes to face up to my responsibility to a much-loved pet ... but it's the price we pay isn't it? And we love them enough to do the right thing no matter what the cost to us in terms of grief and loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a cat that I lost to kidney failure, and it devastated me. I adopted a cat who has FIV and I love him more than life itself. He makes me laugh and happy and I wake up every morning to my best friend. He has me wrapped around his paws and I would not have it any other way. God Bless You Both because it does my heart good that people love their animals as much as I love him.

I had to let my best friend go a little over a year ago. He was a little black kitten when i brought him home. I didn't go anywhere without him for the next 14 years. Eventually he was diagnosed with diabetes. About 6 months after that his lungs filled with fluid and there wasn't much that could be done without collapsing his lungs. Ill never forget him and I hope he is waiting for me. This is a beautiful video and the memories flood back making me cry all over again. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing your story the way you did. I have lost two kitties and two dogs over the last 5 years. I have 21 years of military service and many more years in the fire service after retirement. Nothing made me cry more than when I had to say goodbye to my fur babies. It still hurts but I came to realize it is a part of having a pet. I pray that God will bless you and give you comfort as time goes on. It never goes away but in time, you will find comfort in the decision you had to make.

Hi, in October of 2021, my sweet old cat Willow was not herself back and forth to the vet and there really was nothing they could do she was 24 years old. On the morning of November 1st I woke up to heavy strange breathing from Willow in her cat bed on my bed. It was not long after that she took her last breath my sweet little tiger girl had cross rainbow bridge, I miss her but what a long life…she will be forever in my heart…thanks for sharing

For two of my kittens I was there at the end. One passed during surgery and our beautiful kitten had 2 seizures and died in my arms on the way to my vet. I'm so sorry for your loss. It is NEVER an easy decision even when you know it's the right and humane thing to do

what was the sign? I watched but couldn't finish - we lost one too recently. I know that our cats, and dogs, give us signs they're OK. And many times send another cat/dog that needs a loving home. Not to replace them, but because they know how much love we still can give. But, dang, it hurts.

I lost my cat 2 weeks ago. Like yours, she was 18 years old, I'd picked her out as a kitten with my ex-wife from a litter an alley cat had in a wood pile near our home. She was always there for me, especially after my divorce. She was active up until a couple of days before she passed. We kinda knew what was coming, so we decided that rather than upset her by taking her to the vet, since she wasn't acting like she was in pain, she just wouldn't get up or eat, and she just went peacefully one evening. I miss my little Koshka so much. Every time I see something in the floor, or leave something dark colored on the couch, I look, expecting it to be her as usual.

So sorry for the loss of your baby... 18 years is a very long time. I have had cats in my life, four of which have passed. my fifth and final is probably the most near to perfect kitty I have ever known. Doesn't bite, doesn't scratch furniture, is super lovey, and very playful. If all cats were like him, there would be no homeless cats.

Some days the rainbow bridge is busier than others but it is always there for our little friends. Been thru this a number of times, never gets any easier. My only hope is that where ever the bridge leads we can see or visit our little friends again one day. RIP Ms Bonnie

After 19 yrs I went thru the very same situation with my Rusty boy . I'm almost 87 and can tell you , he was the closest , most faithful friend I ever had in my life . He wanted to be right with me constantly even while working in my shop . He loved automobile rides while sitting on my lap with his two paws up on the window sill . When my company sent me out of town , hundreds of miles , he was ready to go , loved Holiday Inn and the folks loved and welcomed him !! Even when a traffic cop stopped me for a 'no left turn' infraction , Rusty looked up at the officer and the officer said " does your pal like car rides" ? (I knew the two already connected) , I said "he's the only reason I'm here right now . He said , "enjoy your ride but watch the road signs" . I thanked him , and as I drove away I thanked Rusty for doing his part -- no ticket -- lol !! I'm sure we'll be together again God willing .

I’m so sorry for your loss 😢 This video made me tear up. Putting a cat down is one of the hardest things a cat owner would do. I’m sorry Clyde died at the age of ten, at least Bonnie lived a long time. They both had a great life with you guys and they know it. It’s a miracle that Bonnie was able to fight through all of the obstacles. R.I.P Clyde and Bonnie ❤ Fly high 🕊️

We had to put down our cat “Harley” this past Wednesday after his body was shutting down! Harley lived to be 18.5 years! Putting him down was the most hardest and saddest thing we had to do! I grieve for your beloved cat “Bonnie” too! May they both rest in peace😢!

I know how it feels. I lost my childhood cat Bailey at age 12 just a few days after my 13th birthday. I cried my eyes out all while hugging his lifeless body. Even a month after he passed I still cried a lot. Buried him in my backyard. June 4th of this year will mark 5 years since his passing. With that coming up, theres no hope that I wont cry my eyes out again. R.I.P Bailey. December 23rd, 2006 - June 4th, 2019. I miss you bud.

That was beautiful! I lost my Russian Blue cat (Mia) of 15 years last month and I still cry every night because she slept with me every night, except a few nights when she wasn't feeling well. I miss her strong purr, her patting my face in the middle of the night when she wanted under the covers. She saw me through several major health issues including a triple bypass heart surgery which turned out to be very complicated. When I got home from the hospital she kept her distance and let me settle in and get comfy. My sister offered to take time off work to care for me for a few weeks which was hugely helpful. At bedtime that first night Mia jumped on my bed and had to lay on my chest and then she had to see my scar, there were no ifs, and or buts about it. So I undid my shirt for her to look and sniff and then when she was content everything was ok she went and laid down between my legs which was her spot. Each night for about 2 weeks she did the same routine while my sister stood close in case she started to scratch me, which she never did. It was just amazing she knew where my problem was. So, a year and a half later I had to put her to sleep because of tongue cancer which had spread. I always felt we knew each other from a past life. I am heartbroken. Sorry for your loss of another very special cat! 💔✌️

If one sheeds tears for a furry friend means they are good at heart, kind deep inside. I have 3 cats (mom stray we took in, and 2her babies) now 3y old, and a dog 15y stray... each day I think and worry for each and every one...about the hole it would create when they will be gone. The most important thing is to remember your furry friends, never forget, carry the memory of them till your death so they live on with you and be there when your time comes.

I knew watching your video would hurt me so so much, but could not help it. That day, I lost my best friend, my soulmate, my home, my everything... What's the use of death, pain and suffering? None.
