Great news, Christina!!!! I'm so happy for you and cannot wait to see the larger works and "other techniques" you referenced to. And I'm amazed - you set yourself the goal at the beginning of the year to paint bigger and from what I'm seeing you are exceeding at doing so! OH and I cannot wait to see the new space! Please do a tour as well!

Thank you 🥰 actually I got the studio just in time for San Francisco’s 2023 open studios! My studio will be open on November 18th and 19th this year. I’ll share more info about it soon :)

Glad to hear you are expanding to a larger dedicated space. Here I paint following the sun. In the patio, on the pool deck, in the kitchen, following the sunlight throughout the day. It is hectic and chasing down a brush, or a glazing medium or a paint pigment can be a little crazy and stressful if I have misplaced it. I have paintings on the walls, and stored all over the house. I feel you. I'm excited to get the update for your new space and how you set it up. What type of lighting you use, for dark hours of the day, and for videography will be of interest. As always thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Yeah that sounds like a challenge! But I get it - sunlight is worth chasing. And yes, hopefully I’ll have my new studio set up soon and can make a tour of that one too :)

Thanks for the tour! Something I've recently started doing to keep my pallet paints wet is to seal them up with few drops of clove oil on a corner of paper towel.

That’s a great idea! My new studio doesn’t have a freezer, so I’m thinking of switching to that method.

Lovely space, so nice you get to have a dedicated studio now!! I have a similar lamp and bounce the light off the ceiling for more even lighting.

Congratulations on your new studio Christina! Thank you so much for sharing your home studio in all its “gritty reality”😊 I found this post really inspiring because I think that you have achieved so much already just by using the space you have had available creatively. It really encourages me not to allow the limited space that I have (shared between my bedroom and the dining room) to be a limitation to my practice. I hope the new studio opens up lots of new creative opportunities for you.

Thank you Christina! I hope you don’t mind if I ask a question which is only slightly related to your studio tour! I noticed on your bookshelf that you have the book “The Art of Richard Diebenkorn”. I am really interested in his paintings of figures and I was wondering if you could tell me whether many of these are featured in this book? I have been trawling the internet trying to find a Table of Contents or similar to give me some idea. I don’t know whether you read the essays but they look as if they could be very interesting but I also want a book with a decent number of plates of the paintings of figures. Otherwise I might have to jump for the big one in a slipcase, Richard Diebenkorn: A Retrospective. But it costs twice as much so I am hesitating… If your books are already packed for the move, don’t worry. I just thought I would ask. 😊
@christinakentart
@christinakentart Жыл бұрын
@@amandawatson-will7346 Sure! The book is a mix across his career, so it has some figurative paintings but also a lot of his abstracts. I just got it and haven't read the essays yet, but I plan to!

Great tour without the "clean up" filter. :) Maybe a goofy question, but you mentioned at about 2:30 that you store your glass palette in the freezer. Why is that?

Great videos. But I would worry about your used cloth in a cardboard box. They can combust if not stored properly. For safety keep them in a metal container and out side.There mite be some thing am missing. Rely like your work and looking forward to more videos.
