i love these kind of cleaning and selling out merchs and figure because i have similar problem while being a collector, i learnt a lot about what i want to collect and love personally and would rather slow down more than try to have it as fast as possible

I have the same issues with buying collecting fanmerch but for various ships and fandoms. The dopamine hits hard when I get so hyper fixated with a new character or ship I love and then finding merch and things for a good price! But then I end up hoarding, selling stuff to fund the hobby , repeat cycle etc ^^' I love them all but half the time mine is in storage so I cannot fully appreciate them anyway as they are not out in display due to lack of space. I plan to downsize too, I don't have a tiktok account or a audience so selling stuff will be much slower but its a good start 😊Thanks for inspiring me so much with this video! 🙏 It must feel freeing to see all that empty space, like a fresh new start ❤

Thank you for this video. I used to be a crazy figure and merch collector, until I was forced to realize that either I quit this lifestyle or be permanently broke every month. It’s been five years since I focused only on the media side of things, but I still have the majority of my figure collection. Watching your video might be the push I need to finally downsize it.

I hope you feel freer. Keeping smaller collections, keeping favorites, is so much better instead of thinking like you have to get everything available. Make memories, instead of hoarding things. I’m probably lucky because my fave is SVSSS except I’m not a Bingqui fan 😂 So there’s no merch for me. I’m always a side pair or rare pair fan in everything. You seem really cool. Ooh an addition to a digital vs. physical books, it's a better choice to purchase physical just due to the reason of being able to own the item. With digital copies, there is always a risk that the copy disappears due to licensing issues or the eReader no longer functioning/being updated/supported. With a book it is always reliably there. On that note of physical vs. digital though, I also used to collect art prints but managed to cull that habit by collecting it digitally. It's harder to sell art prints just due to my taste being too different from others when I fall put of love for them so I instead just hoard a bunch of downloaded art on my phone so it's easy to look through and remains easily accessible.

I loved hearing your thought process on this. As a collector myself, I've come to realize to buy items that i truly love not and not in the jist of the moment due to fomo or how amazing it looks. I would've collected so many figures and mangas if I didn't have bills to contribute to, and the fact im still living with parents and my room isn't big enough to accommodate another bookshelf. It's a lovely process that those merch just pass on to one who also another passionate caretaker. I once collected colourful vintage beaded dresses from Y2K era, but there is feeling and time for everything. I sold some to those who also like those dresses, and was very happy about it because the dresses will be beautifully worn and useful again by those who also love them. Collectors are like this I guess.

I am currently leaving Lolita Fashion and I'm having the same attitude as you. I was in love with this hobby for a time but now it just doesn't click like it used to. So I'm selling off my dresses. I'm actually on a little break from taking pictures as I'm writting this, since there is so much organising to do!! Wish me luck. Having too much space is often a motivation for my own buying. If you keep some things setup beautifully arranged, then you will hopefully see them daily and feel comfortable with what you have

Yeah I am the opposite. I started and stopped myself before I got to this point. I only get anime and manga. It is rare that I get prints and if I do I tend to scrapbook with them. It is SO HARD to part with some stuff though...😅 I have to constantly re-evaluate what I really love and what I could do without.

@@blbubble yeah my manga collection was pretty big but I have slowly been realizing that some of them I haven't read in years and have outgrown. I like more mature romance themes now (32 female ☺) and find it is easier to get rid of stuff. My advice, if you want it, is to take EVERYTHING (I am not kidding) off your shelves, this includes all 600 manga, separate them by series, and then hold each series one at a time. This will help you determine if you love it enough to keep it. Sounds crazy but it works. I will always want to watch/read new series but it is getting easier to let go of the ones I no longer use. I am never going to stop collecting but I am trying to get to a point where I am in control of the hobby and not the other way around. That fear of missing out can get you.

What you kept looks so nice! A little sad to see you let the nendoroids go though. Is there a specific place or store you bought those art prints above your shelves from? Unrelated but in my opinion Physical Books are also the better option because of DRM, we're not in control of most digital content we 'buy' because what we're really buying is a license for the content that could be revoked at any time and isnt in your control and not the actual product/contents.

The only thing keeping me from making proper shrines is my living space. It's too small so I'm forced to think about not having too much. But yeah danmei merch is a whole thing i don't think i will get into as much even though its something of my interest. At least it gets sold really easy atm with its popularity....idk if thats a blessing or not 😂

If something i would like to have is books with hard cover so they last longer good shape and something what every character have. Like luo binche (sorry if i write them wrong because poor memory) have green jade pendant, shen yuan have fan, wei ying have flute, lan zhan guqin, xie lian long white cloth and hua cheng have silver butterfly or red bead. If i have money i would buy books but they are so hard to get where i live so i can only cry there. I have read these in net before they where made paper books so i was lucky. And because i dont have money to buy many or rare thinks but what i have i merget with memori these books. Like i wanted as young have bambu flute to learn to play it, itsnt black or anything fansy but now i have memory of wei ying in it. I have kantele for lan zhan, (its finnish instrument) but closer i cant get with guqin. I have big silk fan for shen yuan. Luo bingche doesnt have anything right now because i dont have found right one. Xie liang and hua cheng have earrings, one red glass bead and one real silver butterfly. So isnt lot but i remember the books when i look or use these thinks.

Hi. Just found your channel and was curious on the names of the manga. Is it just one series or multiple manga stories?

Hi, I don’t really collect much manga series, but if you’re referring to the large collection in front of me, those are called “danmei” which is essentially Chinese BL. The merch I collect mostly are from the most popular danmei series called Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (MDZS), Scum Villain’s Self Saving System (SVSSS), and Heaven Official’s Blessing (TGCF). All 3 of those series are by the author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu aka MXTX. The original source are all novels, but there are different adaptations. MDZS has novels, animation (donghua), comics (manhua) and a live adaptation called The Untamed. All adaptations are censored except for the novel. SVSSS has novels and animation, but I heard the animation style sucks so I didn’t bother watching it. The novel was great. TGCF has novels, comics, and animation. You can read these series in any order, but the most popular series by her is MDZS. I recommend all 3. If you’re interested in other danmei series, there’s a site called sevenseasdanmei and this is the same English publishing company that released these novels and more.
