It's not claymation, it's stop motion puppets. Plastic faces and whatnot Actual claymation is less common for stop motion compared to puppets, and you'll know it's clay when you see it, usually they don't have separate clothing and it's all clay.

This was my favorite entry of this Hoyofair. Love the effort and smoothness of the animation, the designs, the fantastic voice acting. I got Pied Piper vibes when the children first followed him before it was revealed he was protecting them. Childe's character was nailed perfectly here. Perfect representation of him and I'm so happy and thankful that one of my favorite characters was the star of this. Thank you!!

the talent and passion put in this project is powerful! It did the character of Tartaglia so much justice to a point that even people without an attachment to the character or who don't know him can watch this and get their enjoyment out of it! У него нет сердца, а смерть его на конце иглы, которая очень далеко спрятана, поэтому кощея называют бессмертным. В наших сказках он обычно является злодем, и более человекоподобным, вроде живого скелета. Так что да, небольшая основа русского фольклора здесь есть.❤

MY FAVOURITE SHORT IS ON KZbin? HELL YES. I've been gooning all over this piece since the end of the livestream! It's just so good! I'm not even usually a fan of stop motion, I just can tell the amount of patience and love that was put into it. The characterization of Childe is so spot on that in spite the fact it's fanmade and an AU, I can't stop thinking how much it resonates with his in game characterization! That's always a surprise for me because not everybody puts the patience it takes looking into his personality past his superficial look. Last year for me was Kaveh's Writing on the Wall, this time it's The Toy Salesman that did it. I'm really glad to see this work getting the appreciation it deserves!

words can't describe how impressed I am! what an amazing display of craftsmanship and cinema! The sets, dolls, and movements were all so detailed, it was incredible! Their movements were so fluid and lifelike, I can't imagine how hard and time consuming it is to create such a masterpiece!. I especially love the art style the dolls were fashioned in. Childe has such boyish youthful handsomeness to him. All the characters facial features remind me of Russian animations for some reason, which is a huge win considering its set in Snezhnaya. I don't watch hoyofair but this was an exception. What a masterpiece! I'd love to see a full behind the scenes of how you guys made the dolls and sets!

@@ggzbhs5589 I don't think it's tied to slavic folklore. It's common for main characters to be a saviour of the day, but they usually go through a trial of sorts. A young person has to leave their house, face dangers and outsmart them, defeat the main evildoer and come back home with a reward. And crows were rather neutral wise creatures. So, this story has some slavic vibes, but doesn't really rely on mythology.

OMG THIS IS SO HIGH QUALITY! At this point whoever made this should be hired by a studio and make this to an official movie that should get into cinema cos OMG look how much effort and budget to make those studio quality stopmotion with that super duper detailed characters and environments! I would say this is better, even the best than the real stop motion movies out there that I watched

Невероятная работа! Единственное, к чему можно предраться, так это мондшдадтская архитектура. Но всё остальное просто класс! Отличная кукольная анимация, будто отсылающая к работам Союзмультфильма! Всё, начиная костюмами, и заканчивая характером людей, будто сошло с древнерусских народных сказкак. Также хочется похвалить за характер Чайлда, уверен, что в игре он повёл бы себя абсолютно так же. Ну и Кощеи, эти костяные чёрные вороны, убить которых можно лишь уничтожив их сердце, являются феноменальной адаптацией народных сказаний!

im ngl i was like “CHILDE WHAT ik you’re unhinged but WHAT” when he just attacked the father before the reveal it was a monster hahaha. I love everything about this, it’s all so perfect for childe. Also he looks sooo good!! As a childe fan, this is my favorite hoyofair video this year. I would watch more of these for sure❤

Работа меня просто поразила, а сцена после титров вообще удивила и развеяла все сомнения, на протяжении всего просмотра: компьютерная графика это или же стоп-моушен И это не компьютерная графика! Такие большие декорации, куклы, эмоции, цвет и тени! Невероятная работа ❤ Спасибо большое за эту сказку))) никогда не видела Кощея не как колдуна, а как какой-то вид нечисти, вышло очень интересно. Просто невероятная работа, приятно увидеть немного старорусской культуры, в т.ч. монстров. Ожидаю в Снежной вот такие деревенские глубинки с фольклором и нарядами. Десять Кощеев из десяти, снимаю шляпу перед аниматорами
