A really good video this Kev. I'm like you in being a fan of these overlooked, unspectacular hills. That monologue you gave about getting out, not letting excuses happen really struck a chord with me. I've been pretty poor at getting out this past 3 months.

Lovely area to pitch in. I do remember passing an abandoned hill farm in the immediate area and it was a like a time capsule. Magazines and newspapers dated when it was still active. There was even an old annual as a Christmas present to a child there. Did you find tbe farm on your trip? Thanks for showing the Lanshan tent. I see that they and the Lanshan 1 tents are very, very keenly priced and a great option for those on a budget. Thanks for making the video.

Hi Kev , fantastic video of this little walked and remote hill. The drone footage and views from the summit were amazing. I often walk the lesser known Beacons hills and get off the tourist path , completely agree with you it’s great seeing the mountains from different angles and perspectives. Your route looked exhausting! I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets exhausted and energy sapped going through the long stuff off piste, I thought I was just unfit lol When I get round to this one I’m going to walk it from the West (Ystradfellte) side and go along the crags edge I think .. Nice also to know I’m not the only one who sometimes can’t get motivated to go (often tired or busy) or thinks of many reasons not to , but when you’re there it makes sense. That resonated with me. Fantastic camp sport, enjoyed! Best wishes Adam

Wow, did I get your route wrong.... you really went "off piste" to get there. When you crossed the river I was thinking, where the eck are you then realised the possible route you had taken Looking at your face @ 7:56 I could see the agony of that trek - I think there is a time for exploring and to be honest it wasn't with a full backack of camping gear...lol. After your found that pitch and showed the timelapse you really made the viewer want to be pitched up there too (well me anyway) When I was there with my mate a few months ago we said it was deffo a location to get back to so seeing this it has only reaffirmed that. The river of course is the Afon Hepste which flows on to become one of the most visited rivers in the Brecon Beacons - its the river that provides he waterfalls Sgwd yr Eira (falls of snow) Great wading at the end.. top man !! Good watch Kev. atb Al

@@thevalleywalker cheers Al. The wet grass on the way back wasn't the most fun, but you're right about it being a wonderful hill / location. Definitely one to add to my list of places to maybe return to for a camp.

If you come back to the same point a few times, your tent will flatten the grass eventually! Do you ever wear gaiters? It seems most UK you tuber wild campers don't. But gaiters would be the thing for those higher thicker wet pastures or heathers. (In NZ, almost all hikers wear gaiters - except our overseas visitors.) 😃

@@arcticradio I'm not sure I'll ever own a Hilleberg. I've been tempted to grab a couple used that were good value, but I still couldn't justify it as even when they are relatively cheap they're still £350-450!
