Been a while! Now since I'm more settled from the move, I'm planning on sharing some photography adventures from the midwest :)

I was thrown for a little bit of a loop, thinking you were moving again, before I realized that this was just a delayed release. Great vlog post, reminding me to get out there and enjoy wherever I am. What is familiar will change, and therein lies the adventure.

Separated by an ocean, I've never physically been to those Texan woods, but was quite touched by your goodbye to them anyway. The deciduous and mixed forests of Germany have given me quite a few happy moments in my life, and by some lucky chance I was also able to add a minty DA 35 F2.4 to my K-3 kit recently. Must say that your vid makes me want to give it another spin on the camera as soon as I can. Hope that everything will turn out well for you and your family and your photography in the Midwest!

Hey man that sucks! Moving is always difficult, at the beginning at least. The change will sure do good to your photography at least, fresh new subjects. And the woods you are leaving behind will still be there I hope, so you can visit in the future. Wishing you all the best!

Nice vid and nice kit to say goodbye with That 35mm lens is my favourite sadly I get frustrated when it's not on my camera. Looking forward to seeing your new setting.

Ive moved a couple of times and have established an area of escape in each place, like you mentioned, and leaving that behind gives me a melancholy that I'll never get used to. Gonna miss seeing those woods, but you never know what's around the next corner until you're there!

It's a weird feeling... But I'm glad I had the experience and didn't just mop around for a few years. Onto a new adventure :)

im kinda in the same boat. bought my first dslr, the pentax kf recently. i'll be moving from orlando, fl to utah next week. ive spent about 15 years of my life in florida. time for new adventures. for some reason, im itching to picking up a FF camera. its between the panasonic s5/s5ii and the k1ii. my current gear is all MFT except my kf. that kf is outstanding which really makes my FF choice really difficult.

The K-1 is fantastic, but the s5 offers a whole different set of features (great video being a big one). Also watch the lenses for both systems, as those can get pricey. Good luck with the move! I lived in Utah for an internship and loved it. Some great outdoors stuff out west. Big change from Florida though!
@artoriaslee Жыл бұрын
@@snappinessvlogs I've priced out equivalent lenses for both systems and the Pentax is a lot more pricey and harder to find equivalent lenses for. It's about $1500 more. The S5i/ii have a lot of modern video specs that may come in handy someday and along with other modern features. Even though I don't record videos that often. Decisions decisions lol.

Manual focus top tip for digital: Shoot raw, set color profile to B&W and focus peaking to red - easy to see what's in or out of focus and since you're shooting raw you still keep the color.
@snappinessvlogs Жыл бұрын
That's a cool tip!

Paired with the K1 the DA 35mm f2.4 is massively underrated lens in my opinion. Super versatile for a range of photographic genre's ranging from landscapes, street to Astro Landscapes. Image rendition is surprising for a plastic fantastic, and at a great price it should be in every pentaxians camera bag!

100% agree! A hidden gem!

@@snappinessvlogs Does it work with full frame, or does the camera revert to crop mode?
@snappiness7 ай бұрын
@@Danny_Boel It'll work in full frame mode, that's what I was shooting it in. A little vignetting, but still nice in my opinion :)
@scrptwic Жыл бұрын
The DA 35MM 2.4 is one of my favorite lenses I used it on my trip to Europe as it is a sharp small lens good for low light and gives me the equivalent of 50mm on my ASP-C camera

DA 35mm f2.4 How much vignetting does this lens experience on full frame camera?
@snappinessvlogs Жыл бұрын
Not very much at all, even wide open! Easily corrected in post.

So it’s okay to shoot full frame with this lens? Does it cover the whole sensor?

How did you manage to get rid of the background noise only your voice pops out and you are in the woods 😮
@snappinessvlogs Жыл бұрын
I am not good with audio stuff, but I used the original track + the track ran through some adobe software to clean out noise and boost vocal frequencies. The combination gives a little bit of background noise but makes my voice super clear. Sometimes sounds a little digital though.

My only gripe with the K-1 is that it is big and heavy. My crop camera's are so much nicer to handle. Otherwise it takes some damn nice photo's.

I like my Fujifilm XT1. I finally picked it up after trying the XE1, XPRO1 and XM1. The XE1 is a close second in my mind. I also have an XT3 but I just use that for video :)
