Saying "You Look Better Without Makeup" Is Not A Compliment

I’m a girl and I never wear makeup. I’ve had men tell me “You’re a real beauty because you don’t hide your natural looks with makeup” and I absolutely hate when guys say that to me. They’re just saying it to get some “bonus points” or what not with me, but putting other women down for doing whatever they want to their faces is not attractive at all

Telling someone with makeup on "You look better without any makeup" Is like telling an artist "Your canvas looked better without any paint". 😅 The intention may be "You don't need to meet industry beauty standards to look nice", but It can come across as "Your makeup attempts leave a lot to be desired", and that can taint An attempt at a reminder from Psalm 139:14 of "You are fearfully and wonderfully made". 😇 See, part of our makeup is our creativity, and sometimes doing makeup is how that's displayed. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." That goes for both makeup and compliments, so let's strive to do better with both instead of taking them all off. 😊

​@@SusanRaymond Thank you kindly! 😇 I think that's one of my most unexpected comments, because growing up, I would not have dreamed that I'd ever defend someone's right to wear makeup. Since then, online and on TV I've seen many wear makeup for both practical and artistic purposes, Which has helped my view on wearing makeup to adjust past "Why use it? It seems superfluous."

I’m cool with that. My only issue is hypocrisy . If you want to make your face into a work of art that’s fine, but if you see me yelling with passion at a sports game or video game the last I thing want to hear from you is “it’s just a game”. That’s as disrespectful to me as this is to you so yeah we both need to strive to do better.

I mean I only say that to girls who never use it anyways, so they take it as a compliment, cuz they already know they do, that's why they don't use it. "That's useless then", nope, I'm validating what they feel
