I've had my Epiphone "Greeny" Les Paul now for 2 weeks and I flat out love it. The fit and finish, playability, feel and tone are fabulous. Also the flame maple veneer is stunningly beautiful. The $1499 price tag is in par with the quality of this guitar. It's a keeper for sure.

Holy cow. They brought back the open book head stock like they used for the MIJs back in the day. Gibson style bridge is dope, just needs the 2 screw truss rod cover. Indian laurel and a veneer is kinda silly for a $1500 guitar though imo. Heck, my Les Paul Classic was $1650 out the door when I got it years ago. That being said, I'm very curious to see what they do with other guitars like this going forward.

I think all the companies are pushing up the cost range of mid-tier guitars. They are training us to accept higher costs. LTD, Ibanez, EVH, Jackson, etc. have all pushed them up to the $800-$1300 range, and most of the time you don't even get a case! Suddenly "budget" guitars are in the $500-$800 range. Honestly Epiphone recently moving up to the $1300-$1500 range seems like the natural progression unfortunately.
@Ibaneddie76 Жыл бұрын
It's a very nice guitar but for $1500 you would think they would at least give us an actual flamed maple top and not a veneer maple is not that expensive contrary to what some may think. I also think that for that price you should get some extras like a COA, a custom strap and maybe a faux signed Kirk Hammett holding the guitar print. Not a huge deal and I do realize guitar prices are at a premium currently. All that being said it's a really nice looking guitar and looks to be built really well, (probably better QC than Gibson) since Epiphones are built over seas!

So I’m intrigued by this in spite of the price. The Gibson headstock, the fact that it seems to have real mother of pearl inlays and the different neck profile all make this structurally different from the Bonamassa Lazarus (as opposed to replaceable features like the pickups and knobs). I’m still not sure if it’s worth the premiums but it makes more sense knowing that it uses real mother of pearl seemingly. However, it may still be a better bang for your buck to modify a Lazarus, a 59 in lemon burst or even a Standard 50s in the similar honey burst (especially the latter if you don’t care about specs like a one piece neck and a long neck tenon). Greenybuckers are out of stock but you can always get the Seymour Duncan Green Magic set. I still feel like I’d get an Epi Greeny if I had the money though.

Technically they put a hint of "Greeny" at every price level from the Slash AFD Starter Pack to the Sweetwater Lemon Burst Exclusive '50s Standard, to the 1959 GC/MF Exclusive Lemon Burst, to this $1500 guitar, and up to the $3K Gibson Greeny and the $20K Murphy Lab Greeny. I once played bass with Peter Green(long story)when he was playing the guitar on which this is based, although at the time of course nobody knew the icon either he--or the guitar-- would become. I really really like this Epi and those out of phase sounds are magical---makes you wonder why other Epiphones with an out of phase option are so weak. Not sure if anyone will respond to this message, but I'd love to ask you a few questions about the knobs.
@SayonaraSixString6 ай бұрын
Basically in the middle position the knobs act like additional toggle switches, which gives you a whole subset of tone manipulation.
@Someone-lc6dc6 ай бұрын
@@SayonaraSixString Thanks for replying. So here's the strange thing about the knobs on my guitar... When I'm in the middle position, if I keep the neck pickup volume at 10, then the bridge pickup volume knob acts a bit strangely, i.e. when I put it at 10, the tone is really thin, and when I put it slightly below 10, closer to 9, it thickens up a lot and gets much louder and then the tone I get is closer to what I get when I'm in the neck position. Now, when I put the neck knob around 9 or below, then the bridge volume knob doesn't seem to be affected that much. I hope it makes sense... would be much easier just record a sound sample. It really bothers me. Is there something wrong with my Greeny?

I must admit, even with that pricing this guitar is probably gonna fly off the shelves. The fact having a non-JP epiphone with a proper open book head stock alone is huge, and then including the fact it's a Greeny replica WITH the gibson and not epiphone's version. For people who've not been able to afford any of the gibson offerings due to pricing this might be a little more achieveable to purchase and that's kinda big. I'm still waiting on the DG-335 Epiphone version (which I'm guessing it'll be similarly priced), so that's the only reason I wouldn't buy this, but if it weren't for that I'd also be someone asking my local guitar store asking for this.

No Les Paul and Epiphone the Gibson Les Paul wouldn't even exist today period...Les Paul began construction on what would become the Log in 1939 after befriending Epiphone owner Epi Stathopoulo. Epi gave Les the keys to the company’s New York factory, where Les worked on the design after hours. His somewhat crude invention consisted of a four-inch by four-inch block of pine, on which he attached a neck, bridge and pickups. He played the instrument live but people were initially bewildered by its unorthodox appearance. No matter. Les Paul had a clever response. The luthier cut an Epiphone hollowbody in two and attached the two halves to either side of his four-by-four-inch slab. It was now essentially a through-neck construction, only with a separate neck piece. But, crucially, it looked not unlike a regular guitar. Its central pine slab also reduced feedback issues and increased sustain, while the guitar also featured a vibrato bridge patented by Doc Kauffman, the Vibrola. This is the Log as we know it.

Now you can only get a Gibson Les Paul Modern Lite for $1499. Satin finish, thin body with same pickups as an SG standard. I'd rather have a better sounding, more well spec'd Epiphone Les Paul for that kind of $ or even way less.
@gkott78 Жыл бұрын
@Trashslayer76 but you can pick up a Gibson Les Paul Standard on sale for 2k. There are plenty available. There are 4 at my local store alone new hanging on the wall. The tops aren't special so the price was reduced. I'd much rather have one of those then this. I guarantee these will be on sale for under 1000 within 6 months of release.

No you GIBSON fanboys can't stand the fact that epiphone is back to a premium brand and have been since 2019 when JC Curliegh Restored Epiphone back to where they should have always been.. epiphone was never meant to be a budget brand in the first place and they weren't until Norlin ruined them when they took over Gibson well 2019 that all ends with JC Curliegh..get used to it GIBSON fanboys it's not going to change and epiphone is right now bringing back bad memories of the past to Gibson epiphone is once again smacking Gibson around they really are and where did the solid body guitar actually began again? Oh that's right it was Les Paul in the Epiphone facility in New York 1939 into 41 Not Gibson and go research it's epiphone who's Gibson big brother so these are facts so you can come back with what ever you want isn't going to change anything

It’s a fact that Kirk didn’t want his name attached to this guitar in the sense that he didn’t want his name embossed anywhere on this. I’m guessing that’s why there’s no COA. It is still considered an artist signature edition and will be a one and done model for Epiphone.
@SayonaraSixString Жыл бұрын
That makes sense, I think the Gibson $3k+ version is the same way. The deluxe Gibson Murphy Lab $20k version I think has all kinds of extras though of course. Dropping $1,500 on an Epi I guess I just wanted at least a thank you card. 😆

OMG the price 😨. No Worries 🙂 Listen, if you're focus enough in being a good musician, then the guitar doesn't matter ! In the early 80s, a military service kid casually went on stage at a rec center, and strapped on a rough looking strat through a Noisy Silver Face Twin. We were all stun in his soloing all over that worn out fret board ... Afterwards, he told us he's from a large musical family in Nashville.. I commented that I too play guitar in cover bands, etc. He smiled in replying " I know, you're not a very good player" !!! OMG 😳. Did we all laugh our asses off !!! I never forgot that kid 😊 12:08
