Sayulita, Mexico: TREEHOUSE LIFE

Sayulita, Mexico is a sleepy fishing village turned bustling tourist destination. It's designated as a Pueblo Magico (Magical Village) in Mexico and is a popular place for surfers, yogis, and day trippers from Puerto Vallarta.
It only takes an hour to get there from PV, but it feels worlds apart. We've visited Sayulita a few times over the years, as it's an excellent place for a "staycation" in Banderas Bay.
We stayed in a beautiful treehouse by the river on our most recent visit. It wasn't exactly a vacation as we had to work a bit, but the WiFi actually (mostly) worked in the treehouse! There were those two times Rachel had to sprint to the coworking space in flip-flops, though...
We still made it to the beach for sunset every evening. Nights were full of street tacos, live music, craft beer, and some hilarious stuff going on in the plaza. You'll have to see it to believe it.

Same channel, different name! It's GG 2.0 basically... you know we've actually never been to Baja. Originally we had planned to go to San Diego > Tijuana and explore a bit before flying to PV, but we changed plans when we found crazy cheap flights to Buenos Aires. Next stop - Argentina!!

Interesting. I stopped by Sayulita last March for breakfast as I headed north from PV. I'd loved to have stayed longer. My breakfast was awesome. Re: travel insurance: I always get auto insurance via Sanborns. What type of insurance are you talking about? I travel and work as well and had little problems with connections (AirBnB) in Mazatlan and PV. However, the lodging value was not good during my four month Mexico stay. Lastly, what did you pay per night in the tree house? Less than $100 - if so, how much? More than $100 - if so how much? Keep traveling, keep happy.

Thanks for the comment! It's definitely worth it to stay a bit longer in Sayulita. It's a small town but there's plenty to do, and there's always chilling on the beach! We are talking about SafetyWing, which is an insurance company geared towards digital nomads. They really saved us in 2020 when we got stuck in Colombia and ended up taking a humantarian flight back to the US. SafetyWing reimbursed us for the whole cost of our flight and even our rental car, so we recommend them and are proud affiliates. They also have insurance plans for remote companies and are working on retirement programs and other things. It's a really interesting company so you should check them out! As far as the treehouse goes, it's $75/night on Airbnb but we contacted the host directly through their website and WhatsApp and I think we only paid something like $60 per night in the end.
