I think the whole issue with the bride's mother was her concern about modesty. She would never be happy with any dress that showed more cleavage than she thought appropriate for a wedding ceremony. I suspect that the bride knew this about her mother and pushed her buttons on the issue. This was a case where the bride needed to go by herself to choose her wedding dress, because the battle lines were drawn before they ever walked into the shop. Left on her own, I think the bride would have made a choice that came closer to her mother's wishes for a classic, traditional look. The second dress she tried on would have fit that description. I liked both ladies, and the father was terrific.
