There’s a line between telling the truth and being disrespectful. Jessica’s mother was rude. Jessica is not even “big”; wedding dresses have weird sizing. I’m glad Jessica finally found the dress for HER.

On the first dress Mom is ignoring the fact the "real" dress will be larger and the bust will actually fit much better. Then there will be the alterations which will make sure the dress fits appropriately. She's just ignoring inconvenient facts she wants to ignore.

@EmeraldJade666 ай бұрын
It's like the consultant said, it was just a piece ... not like the whole dress or even part of it. I've had that to happen to me in clothes in the store and I'm petite and only 120-135 lbs. Crap happens! They have enough money to cover it and that's also why they have seamstresses who work there in the store to do alterations. They can repair/alter the dress without a problem. With all said, the consultant did a wonderful job in fact excellent offering all the dresses she thought would please not only the bride but also the difficult mom as well. This consultant is one of my top faves on the show at Kleinfeld and if I were lucky enough to be able go there to look for a bridal gown she would be who I'd ask for along with a couple of others I like on the show as well if she couldn't. Of course I would have to ask for Randy to come and say hello because I love his sense of humor, smile and expertise advice on the dresses.

"Her stomach is sticking out" Excuse me ma'am, everyone's stomach sticks out.
@ChrisAndCats4 ай бұрын
Which - and I speak as someone who is herself more football shaped nowadays following a permanent back injury - is all the more reason *not* to wear a dress style that gives a stomach to people who don't actually have one, like this lady doesn't. Yet despite that she doesn't, and that she has a great figure, at 3:14, that bunched up fabric above the motif on the skirt gave a really weird fold, like there was a load of her hanging down behind it. Mermaids are rarely flattering on anybody, short of the very few. The one she picked was lovely, it flattered her in all the right places and didn't create bulges where she clearly doesnt have them.
@ruthhogg64232 ай бұрын
@@ChrisAndCats Who cares if a dress “gives a stomach to people who don’t actually have one”? Honestly…that’s a stupid thing to say! It doesn’t matter what the hell part of a dress accentuates ANY part of a body, we all come in different shapes and sizes…none of which are wrong. You are part of the problem 🙄🤬
@ChrisAndCats2 ай бұрын
@ruthhogg6423 if people want one, have at it. However, pointing out that a garment creates something that isn't there is merely an observation of its characteristics. As for "part of the problem", maybe tell that to the person who caused my back injury by failing to obey a roundabout give way, then drove off, permanently injuring me, limiting my movement ability, creating daily pain and my now altered shape? We all know a protruding stomach doesn't look as nice as a flat one, so there's no way I'd wear anything that made mine look worse than it already does, and nor would you, if you're honest.
@ruthhogg64232 ай бұрын
@@ChrisAndCats What has your injury to do with this video? And no, I don’t agree with you. Your reply speaks volumes 🙄
@ChrisAndCats2 ай бұрын
@@ruthhogg6423 if you don't understand that a back injury can cause changes to your shape as you can no longer move or exercise like you used to, thus creating a rounder middle, which is exactly what we were discussing in the comments following my initial comment about some fabrics creating the illusion of such a shaped stomach then there's no hope! And I'd say yours says much about you, too. Why would someone want to further highlight a problem area thats there (in my case) or create the illusion of one if it's not? Wouldn't most people want a dress that flatters and enhances their figure (or lack of one in my case thanks to said injury), rather than highlighting the bits that are best not highlighted? If you watch Jo and Al in the curvy brides boutique, you might get a clue about that sort of thing. You sound like the sort of person who would encourage a friend to go out in something that doesn't flatter them, rather than being honest (in a kind way) and helping them find something that flatters them more.

@@MsJubjubbird Which is a very weird market strategy. And by "weird" I mean bodyshaming. If your average client is a size 12, having most samples only in sizes 2 to 4 (data taken from what they said in these clips and confirmed on their website) is hilariously dumb and cruel. You want to sell those dresses, right? Even the consultants sometime say that it is humiliating to try to explain to the brides that their samples are too small on basically everyone who tries them on. Because the blame is completely on who designed this system. In any other shop that has a fashion shows connection they made a second dress for the actual store with a size 8 to 10. So that there are at least two bodytypes to allow most of their clients to try on without ripping them or swimming in them. These are simply buffons.
@MsJubjubbird8 ай бұрын
@@credendovides20 it is not body shaming to be practical and cost effective. That's looking for a cause where there is none and using buzzwords for no reason. It's like saying it's bank account shaming if you're a Mercedes dealer. Dresses take time and money to make and designers are out to make money. It is much more efficient to make one dress that will be used for the show, and then can be used as a sample, rather than a dress that is then thrown away. It was great to see a happy ending. I could not have continued trying dresses if my mother responded that way. I guess when the daughter is used to her mom being mean they can tolerate it. I honestly would have eloped! When I was growing up my father teased me until I cried about having crushes on boys. I thought I wouldn’t even want him to see me get married, let alone walk me down the aisle.

Her mother's laughter was so demoralising. Poor girl.

The obsession with size has literally cost lives. That mother is toxic.

If I was the daughter, she should have told the mother to leave or get on board the right way

Poor darling😦 but I'm super happy she found her dress. At this point I don't care if her mom likes it or not. It was very mean of her to laugh😟

What a wonderful smile this young lady has! Don't ever make her cry. She deserves smiles and lots of them. Stay strong, stay awesome, stay smiling.

Speaking as a former bride who had her mother almost entirely hijack her wedding from start to finish, especially with regard to the wedding dress - my advice to all brides is “Don’t let her do it!” I got married in the early 1980s and the deprived feeling is still there. My mother had a friend who was in the process of opening a bridal shop. I did not even get to try on any wedding dresses.
