Yeah, and it's worse here in America. I tried ONE bridal shop to find a dress and was pretty much shamed out of the store. I was so heartbroken I left in tears. But, what they don't tell you is, they don't have dresses for those of us who are significantly overweight. If you're over a size 26, you're out of luck. The world just does not want fat girls to feel beautiful. :(

Just to correct one thing - South Africa was, along with Holland and Canada, one of the first countries in the world to legalise gay marriage. This happened years before the UK, Australia, US etc did the same. So while it IS a largely Christian country with undoubted pockets of awful bigotry, it is also very progressive when it comes to gay rights.

Having a gay uncle myself, and growing up in SA and he has travelled alot, he mentions how its one of the safest places in the world for gays.
