Absolutely! I wear a size 6-8, but I have short legs and a LONG torso. SO many items of clothing that look great on the hanger just don't look good on me. I gave up on trying to buy a dress that fits. If it fits in the shoulders, the waist is much too high (because of long torso). To get the waist in the right place ----at my waist---means the shoulder area is too big. (Thankfully, I wore suits to work for years, so they----or a skirt and top--worked fine. Oh, and because of my long torso, any floor-length dress looks weird on me because it looks like my legs are too short for my body. And, btw, I think #3 did look the best on her, but #2 looked really good to, except for the color.

When I got married in 1975, there was a small shop in the neighboring town. It literally took me 5 minutes to select my dress. I loved it immediately, and still do. Even now , my friends all laugh, because when I shop for anything , I go through the rack, and 5 minutes later I've got my items, and am ready to go home lol. Guess I'm lucky, I've always found it so easy

I owned a Bridal boutique for years. Working with my clients I had 1 goal. Bringing how she views herself into reality . I spent a great deal of time working through self esteem issues, body dysmorphic disorders, fear, and disappointment with themselves. I count it an honor to assist every bride leaving happy, excited and more confident about themselves. I always told them, it's not about the gown. It's about you showing up feeling your absolute best. The gown doesn't make a beautiful bride. The bride makes the gown. I miss working with clients, helping them through barriers that they've hidden for many years. I have no regrets. It's a special moment when a bride see her vision for the first time. It was never about the gowns for me. It was waking up everyday excited that I get to empower someone. I get to help someone make their dreams come true. That alone is priceless.

But what she wanted was to look like her friends, meaning she wanted a dress that looked something a size 6 could buy somewhere. Most of them seem to have really supportive families and probably husbands to be...
@NyaNyaJP3 жыл бұрын
@Nenethegreat W I have been big and have known women much bigger than me. It is what it is. A lot of people actually marry for love, for the connection they have in mind, soul and personality and are willing to deal with the ups and downs of what life throws at them with their bodies as well. They will be ready to loose it when they are ready and that option is always, always, always there. Some people have burns all over their bodies or are disfigured or have scars all over themselves. Do we put them down and shame them when someone falls in love with them for who they are and can find a way to love their appearance as well? Do everyone a favor and keep your offensive opinions to yourself. Rudeness is far more discusting and the leading cause of singelness, divorce and sickness.

But as a woman who’s also struggled with her weight and has had many insecurities because of it, I can see she isnt happy. Maybe she hasn’t come to that point yet where shes ready to change - and thats okay - but eventually she will realise that losing weight and exercising more will help her confidence and her self-love. No, you dont have to love your curves - yes, love yourself and your body. But I prefer to love what my body can do and how it is changing as I get healthier and happier. It looked so beautiful on her. The satin, the sparkle, those lines. Lovely.

That dress was obviously never going to look good on her figure. Gathered skirts running directly over the stomach only work for very slim women with long torsos, they look terrible on everyone else.

The look on her mom’s face when she started crying killed me. Their relationship is so sweet.

Brides in all shapes and sizes feel like this. It has nothing to do with being a model.

It's such a misconception. I am right in between, I'm not skinny nor am i 'fat' so everyone has an opinion on me that they think I am both. It wears you down. All women have insecurity, all women want to feel beautiful and confident in the way they choose. Society puts so much pressure on us and we put too much pressure on us

Dorelinendenwen Ancalime they put a lot on men too. I think the fundamental thing that should be changed is the unreasonable expectations for perfection from both genders. People need to realize being healthy doesn’t come in a specific shape. One yearns for health, not for vanity.

These women are so smart! I've always admired people who have the ability to see a dress on a hanger and know that it will look great or to look at the customer and know what they need.

I truly admire all the 'work' the gals out into helping these clients. I don't understand the focus that brides put into a garment to wear one day.

You have to know your body's strengths and weaknesses, especially if you're plus-size. You need the right silhouette and structure, otherwise you'll come across looking heavier than you really are.

Jo and Al care about every bride. For the unprofessional sat at home, it looks easy aiding and advising a bride. My 6th sense tells me it's not. Such great women (jo & ali.) Honest opinions and years of experience. Beautiful 3rd dress looks stunning 🧡

It’s so important to gauge the Bride’s personal style and they were spot on with that last gown...even though the second dress was beautiful on her...she just was not into it. So happy she found “the one” and it is also very beautiful crisp, refined and tailored. Very lovely in her!

Lol I always made an analogy, that meeting the right person is like putting on the right dress you date and you try on alot of dresses ..sometimes we purchase clothes that are just alright with nd sometimes we stay with people we dont connect with just cause its comfortable..but when you try on the right dress/outfit nd it fits just perfectly and when you meet that great love nd it just all feels right you know!! Hope we all find that one that was made just for us!
