She was a grade ahead of me, taller and slimmer--an easy fit. I'm short, chunky and stocky of build. On dress shopping Saturday my mother and I took the train from New Haven to NYC where both bride and groom lived to meet with her, her brother's wife, and the niece to shop together. Only the sister-in-law had pushed the bride into shopping a week earlier and the dress for HER niece had been purchased. I had to try the dress on and my mother was expected to buy it. Nice dress, but looked awful on me. My mother was furious but determined to be polite. Niece wore the dress; I wore a different dress in a totally different style. Many years later, reminiscing about the wedding my mother suddenly snapped: I was not going to let you wear that dress! Imagine bridesmaids bringing their mothers into the dress selection process! I suspect that's why you haven't seen it bridesmaids in decades...

Before the video even really began and they told the story of the rivalry between the two women, I immediately got a bad vibe from the one in the pink shirt. She was rolling her eyes, her face reeked of jealousy and bitterness. The bride and the other two friends seem so positive. The bride radiates happiness. I don’t care if my friend picked out the ugliest maid of honor/bridesmaid dress (if I ever get to be one), a real friend will be supportive and understand it’s the bride’s day. This is the first tie I saw this video. Half way through it I said, "Don't have a maid of honor." Same thing the bride said. Those 2 friends felt entitled. So no one wins!!!
