@CandraJade842 жыл бұрын
Men who are virgins with over 20 do get judged. And women often still get judged if they have slept with more than a few guys in her mid/late 20s. A female friend of me is 30 and has had 7 relationships and two or three short flings. If she were a man that wouldn't be considered much, but because she is a woman she sometimes gets crude remarks about it. Her mother, who lives in the same neighborhood, actually told her not to let her boyfriend or male platonic friends visit her at home because she doesn't want the neighbors to talk. I don't understand our world. It is fine to make experiences before marriage and it is fine to wait for the wedding night and both should apply to both genders.

The shop sells all kinds of blush, pink, cream, ivory and white. Considering that she asked specifically for white and said that it was a big deal, it is reasonable to ask why. Some people fixate on having pure white dresses because of traditional marriage colours but then it doesn't suit them. There was a darker skinned lady who came in really wanting a white dress because she thought that pure white was the only proper colour for a bridal gown but then the pure white didn't look good on her because it washed her out. To know why someone wants a specific colour could be really important to the appointment.

I don't think there is anything wrong with waiting, but purity culture can be toxic, abusive, and can have you second-guessing yourself in moments that matter. I remember picking my own dress. I wasn't a virgin, but I was raised in an abusive religious home, and even just putting the dresses on was such a huge shock. It brought up trauma that I didn't even know I had. I finally had to specify that the dress couldn't have sleeves on it because seeing myself in a dress that even looked like it represented toxic purity culture had me in tears because I had spent my whole life trying to rise above it and get out of it. I just could not see myself in a dress that reminded me of it. I'm honestly not surprised that this girl had an absolute emotional meltdown when faced with the reality of it all.

Marriage is not an exception to sti’s, in fact a large amount of people that have them are married and another large group that has them are pregnant women usually married. I get what your saying as you are exclusive but being a virgin til marriage or married does not inherently exclude one from sti’s. People mostly find it weird because of its strong presence in purity culture and the fixation it has on the concept of virginity particularly that of young girls which is weird. It is lovely to hear about your happy marriage and close bond but most couples who marry for live regardless of sexual experience will have that (sexual experience, particularly understanding one’s body can actually make sexually relationships better)

Both opinions are fine. Wanting a virgin is a common red flag (to say your partner is controlling or abusive). you said yourself no one to be compared to -> much less likely to realize if you are being abused. Wanting for marriage is a common red flag for a blackmailing "making guilty" because it's an easy example for using old morals to dictate ideas. I really hope that it comes out as actual answer and not judgmental. ( it's similar case to how most murderers are psychopaths, however most psychopaths are helpful trustworthy people. I disagree, there are pre-interviews for this and there have been other times where the bride has wanted to wear pure white and they haven't been asked because they didn't bring up in their pre-interview that they were a virgin. I think it has to do with the girl or her family having said something to begin with because they don't have any information about you that you don't give. And if she hadn't wanted to answer she could have done what other bride have done and said "i don't want to answer that" or she could have said "it's just important to me" but she chose to tell them the reason and get into it. Usually they ask do you want to wear pure white for a reason as a way to gauge of they absolutely have to stay within that or if there's any wiggle room at all to work with.

Being a virgin or not isn't really the main issue here - too many people make a big deal out of being one or not being one. It's none of our business. BUT big thumbs up to her for thinking things through. With the divorce rate around 50% in the USA (yes, 1/2 of these marriages on the show end in divorce), it's good to not rush a wedding decision. Although you cannot predict the future, you can minimize the chances of a divorce by not rushing into marriage. Yes, nerves can just be about the event but nerves can also be about something else - better to explore that before jumping the gun because divorces are messy and especially with children involved. PS - Before you assume, check out which religions (or lack of) have the highest divorce rates. Yup!

The obsession that some people have over a woman's body is creepy. I've seen it on several episodes of this show. Whether it's the dad, or a brother, or in this case the grandmother it is just plain weird. If a woman is old enough to get married, she's old enough to choose her own wedding dress.

WHY the big deal about a 20-year-old still being a virgin? It SHOULD be that way.
@massabielle28212 жыл бұрын
Why did this entire episode have to be about her virginity? Being a virgin is a beautiful, Godly choice, and it should be the standard, not the exception, yet the comments were all centered around this fact. Not knowing what type of bridal dress she absolutely wanted had nothing to do with virginity, it had to do with needing to try on other dresses, and being sure that the one she chooses is the one she wants, not just being pressured bc of a TV episode.
