Jules, buddy, the problem is "The Shadow" is TOO evocative, to the point that there are like dozens of paranormal phenomena that could self-describe as "The Shadow". We let that into the lexicon, all of a sudden you've got incoming field reports and some ZZ-grade clerk is wondering "do I file this under the Cauldron Lake Shadow or the Emerson Gorge Shadow or the McKenzie Ridge Shadow or" and now you're in a completely unproductive feud with some guy across the country because your research keeps getting mixed up.
