I like the more prominent narrative elements here, reminds me a bit of endless space / legend.

It was you who introduced me to 4x games as a whole. I picked up this game during the sale when Steam recommended it to me. It feels like I'm playing and discovering things about this game alongside you, and I look forward to seeing what you can do.

Watching 2 episodes now, I'm a huge fan of the more fight-y approach this game is taking. It's a refreshing change of pace from normal 4x games. Off the top of my head: - Diplomacy is often an unbalanceable feature of 4x. If you never get attacked then there is never a threat. Having combat as a default is refreshing and simpler. - Having few cities which are very strong but many POIs on the map seems like a great way to make the game fight-y without the normal all-or nothing nature of it - having vision be so limited really plays well into the fantasy here, along with every square inch being generally hostile. The explore part of this 4x seems to be much more core than other games where it is generally free. This may be a pickup for me, which is a huge deal due to the time commitment. Looking forward to seeing if the midgame stays strong. Disappointed by the research UI though. That seems like a massive miss.

Combat being a default is very much something that has been a part of Age of Wonders for multiple installments, and the way that this game incentivizes picking up resource caches guarded by nominally neutral enemies reminds me of Age of Wonders 3 and 4. In regards to the research tree, it is literally worse than the research tree for Terra Invicta, which I didn't think was possible until now

The compendium, perhaps unfortunately, shows units from the perspective of if they were under your control.

I really wonder how much effort you're supposed to put into securing outposts. Having a city nearby certainly seems like a good idea, but there's a whole dang lot of the things.
