If we want to translate it as accurately as possible, "Natatatag" is the exact equivalent of the word "Building". Their tenses are the same - present tense. The root word "Tatag" can mean two things: 1." To Found, Mount or Erect something" (the synonym of "Tatag" using this definition is "Tayo", "Tirik" or "Lunsad" it depends on the context) 2." To Brace or to Get Fortified" (now the equivalent Tagalog word for this "Tatag" by this definition is "Tibay" referring to durability) "Pagtatag" on the other hand refers to the "PROCESS" or the "TIME" that has taken or is presently taking to build, fortify, or found something. (Adding the prefix "Pag-" makes it become a noun, not a verb.) Thus "Pagtatag" should've been translated as "FORTIFICATION" (referring to the process of fortifying) or it can also be translated as "FOUNDATION" (referring to the process of founding) instead of "Fortifying" (referring to the act of doing fortification), "Founding" (the act of doing foundation) not even "Building" (the act of building something) The verb "Building" is "Natatatag" or "Natatayo" in Tagalog. Build is "Magtatag" or "Magtayo". Built is "Natatag" or "Natayo". To Build is "Magtatatag" or Magtatayo". And the verb "Strengthening" is "Pinapalakas". Strengthen is "Palakasin". Strengthened is "Pinalakas". To get Strengthened is "Magpalakas" While the noun "Building" is "Pagtatatag" or "Pagtatayo" in Tagalog. And the noun Strengthening is "Pagpapalakas" in Tagalog. That's if we wanted to give them the very exact translation and definition. It's up to us. Coz nowadays, more and more youngsters are getting confused with Filipino grammar. Which is why I wanted to partake in sharing the knowledge. So please don't be angry. I hope somebody will find this helpful.
