Stephanie Dinkins: The Stories We Encode: AI, Love, and the Future of Algorithmic Care

The Provost’s Spotlight Talks feature eminent visitors to the university as well as SBU faculty members who have recently been recognized for outstanding contributions in their field. Stephanie delivered a talk titled "The Stories We Encode: AI, Love, and the Future of Algorithmic Care," on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024. Stephanie is a transmedia artist who leverages innovative technology and social collaboration to spark discussions about race, gender, aging, and future histories. She is the Kusama Endowed Chair in Art at Stony Brook University and has received multiple honors including the Mozilla Rise25 Award and the Schmidt AI 2050 Senior Fellowship. She has been recognized as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in AI, and her innovative work has been highlighted by The New York Times, Wired, and the BBC. Her area of expertise is in emerging technologies and how they intersect ideas of race, aging, gender, and our future histories.
