I've caught a couple in Oahu but it was all bait or nothing. But I do alot of fly-fishing and if you ever get another chance try just stripping the line into a hook set not whipping the rod up for a hook set. Alot of times as you experienced you missed more than you hooked. I've only caught trout, salmon and largemouth on the fly but stripping the line for the hook set seems to be the most productive method for me. Happy fishing a great videos!!

Very informative bit about the peacock bass population and why they have been brought to those waters. Living in Central Florida where we don’t have Peacock Bass, but tons of Tilapia and Plekos. Where can I look to learn if the water here would support peacocks and if they would thrive. Then I might be able to present the case for bringing them in to lower the population of these already super population of both named invasive species.
@SBFishing4 жыл бұрын
So something else I learned from Scott was about the water temps and their survival. IIRC - once the water dips into the low 60s, they die.
@NealVan4 жыл бұрын
We had two nights of 30 degree temps, but the water here never drops below 67 in the canal I live on which is attached to the Cotee River north of Tampa along the Gulf coast. I’ll contact the F&W department and see what they say. Really good video between catches and all the skills your guide I’ve seen dozens of times in other videos away from Florida. In my next life, I’ll choose not to become a pro musician, but a pro angler and perhaps if I ever got as good at fishing as I did in music, I’ll have sponsors paying for my trips with guides and perhaps I’ll finally stop smelling like skunk! LOL. I’m dropping fishing channels by the ton. Your channel is in no fear if being dropped because you keep things real and not some editing masterpiece with little fishing content like the Googans have done. BTW...anyone know what going on with Mike aka 1Rod? He’s vanished again and it’s been nearly a month since his last video. I worry about him and his family because of their mental health issues he discussed last year. I hope someone finds him just to make sure if he’s alright. I stopped watching his channel because it got very silly and pointless. But I’ve watch him and Jon B. Since 2014 and I’m pretty sure Jon B. will remain healthy, but his videos are pointless as I’ve described. I’m just a bit concerned about his health and if he’s gone into depression again he did a couple years back and stopped making videos. Best wishes Matt!

Too much fun. I went down to ft lauderdale in october and caught my first peacocks, mostly out of lake ida, but they are so fun....especially on finesse gear. I caught my first on a panfish rod cuz the guys I went with couldnt use casters so they were using my 2 bass finesse reels. My first was about a 2 lber, on 4lb line. He ripped it and went in a tree, I went in the water to guide him out, it was a fight. So much fun.

that feeling you got on the fly rod? pretty much translates to every fish you catch on the fly. Fished conventional gear for 25 years then tried fly fishing and wouldn't go back. there's a time and a place for conventional gear (tight cover, group fishing on a small boat, high winds, trolling etc) , but the rush and accomplishment you feel on the fly, cannot be matched.
@michaelbabb11274 жыл бұрын
Next time, put the tip of fly rod in the water while you’re stripping and the line won’t jump around. Helps keep the line tight when you set the hook. Plus it looks sick when all the line rips out of the water.

Top fishing deals sucks. I've had it for a month, and it offers nothing. It only hosts some of the the major sites (BPS, Tackle Whse, Karl's, Walmart, etc.), and gives you no incentive to use their site. What deals are Outdoor WHSE, Dick's, Academy, Tackle Direct, or FishUSA offering? Do I get a discount using your site? I'm subscribed to all these sites and get email updates so what does Top Fishing Deals actually offer me? NOTHING
