Thanks for sharing, Jim! Kevin Chalfant sure is a great singer! In the 90's he turned up in another great band called The Storm along with ex-Journey members. I still listen to 707 on a regular basis after all these years :P

Wow, Jim McClarty! Blast from the past! I saw 707 at the Starwood, I want to say around 1980? Maybe earlier '79? I was just starting high school. An aspiring drummer and by '82 was playing in original music bands. Still have off an on for many years since. I can be good for you is still one of my all time favorite songs. Thanks for being the sound track to my teen years, and beyond!

These guys should have been a household name!

So many of their songs should have been radio hits..."No Better Feeling", "Tonite's Your Nite", "Can't Hold Back" - "Megaforce" and "I Could Be Good For You" should have charted higher!

Saw 707 in concert twice back in the day. You guys were so good live - really tight. Thanks for posting this - really brought back some great memories. One quick question. How come "Thinking It Over" never made it on a studio album? Such a great song with great hooks!
@SBGGCA3 жыл бұрын
I don't know how I missed this comment. Sorry for the delay. I always loved Thinking It Over, as well. But, it was a song that Duke and I wrote together. Duke parted after the first album and recording any of his material would have caused all kinds of publishing blowback. So, the song was never on a 707 album. Too bad, though.

A couple of additional questions when you have the time. I'm assuming that the Felix Robinson that was playing bass with 707 at the time of this recording was also the Feliz Robinson that played bass in Angel? How did Jonathan Caine get involved with writing "Megaforce"? What are your thoughts about Ace Frehley's version called "Calling On You"?
@SBGGCA2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Felix was in Angel and joined us for our last tour with Ted Nugent. John was working in Keith Olsen's studio when we came in to record the MegaForce single. To make a long story short, he had recorded a sequence and asked me to add drum fills to it. Then Keith decided to tack that on to the front of our song and that's how Jonathan ended up with credit for MegaForce. And, the Ace Frehley version of Calling To You happened because Tod (from 707) was in the Comet, Ace liked our single, and they decided to rework it. What did I think of it? I liked the check.

@@SBGGCA I'm disappointed, this would have made a great historical clip for the documentary "Sound City". Bummer.
