Chris Nolan seems to get what so many other filmmakers don't. Movies in and of themselves start out with one monolithic hurdle, they are entirely visual artifice, a series of sequentially projected frames that when properly displayed open a window into a sort of cinematic reality. It's Nolan's insistence on incorporating the greatest amount of live-action material possible, regardless of cost or effort, that temper his films with a level of believability that is fast vanishing from cinema.
