Fantastic movie. It's unfortunate the box office doesn't reflect it, but this movie was designed for the big screen.

Totally agree. Its going to be one of those underrated art pieces of filmmaking that only industry artists will value, not general audiences.

both box office and oscars is weird to me. It's one the best movies with best music I saw in years. It's been months since I've seen it and I'm still humming the tunes. I've read the marketing of it was weird, some stupid tik toks etc and it was marketed as the movie about a huge party in the 20's, they didn't sell it right. I just don't get it. But I'm glad I was able to see it in cinema twice, I'm happy to get copy of it so I can watch it again (probably soon) and I'm happy I can listen to the soundtrack on the loop on spotify. Chazelle and Hurwitz are geniuses and I'm happy they exist, please go on with your art guys.

He mentioned Eisenstein regarding the editing. I got that very much. Fantastic film.

I love Damien Chazelle but Justin Hurwitz’s music is what makes these films.

yeah and they work together on it, damien is as much an influence in the music as justin is to his directing. so they both make what the movie turns out to be, not just the music or the directing, but both.
