Geeze, they really make things difficult to get to to repair. I thought our JD D-130 was bad, but wow. You did a great job, even showing difficulties with pesky “C” clip. Thanks for highlighting the number of teeth in the starter gear. When you look on line to purchase there are 14, 15, & 16 tooth gears.

That is a strange one to get removed I been there did that many times the thing is that I would like to remove the fly wheel to get the bolt under the fly wheel out much better

In a pinch? Turn that old one over and put it back on! It started mine 🫡👍, I'm not going to put the new one on till this one quits.
