Two great players, no doubt. The thing I like and respect the most of both players' attitudes. Daigo is respectful to the opponent, constantly looking focused and not showing excitement over a win. I find that admirable. On the other hand, (there are different fingers) Muteki is always looking like he's having fun. I really like that. It gives off this nice-guy aura.

0:32 I love how he jumps over the super, do you realise how utterly terrifying that is to do in a comp vs daigo? 9/10 players would just take the block damage all day long. Amazing then he somewhat threw the round away after playing it to perfection for so long. Easier said than done I know.

@MrShadowz1337 he was keeping him at bay with fireballs, which is a defensive tactic. He switched to offensive at the end and actually attacked, which is offensive. Fireballs in of themselves are offensive, but the way Daigo used them was defensive.

I don't know why, but Daigo's expression (or complete lack of) kinda creeps me out. In the first round, he makes a monumental comeback with a super move finish and doesn't even smile. He just gives that empty blank stare at the screen.

1:26 I'm pretty sure Ryu's crouching roundhouse was supposed to cancel into a hadouken. Sometimes I get the motions wrong and a shoryuken comes out instead in that exact same situation. I'm going to assume that's what happened here as well. It's good to know that even Daigo fucks up on the input occasionally.
@fliperotchy13 жыл бұрын
@HinataChan30 you're thinking about it too shallowly. medium level sf2 play is crazy back and forth with comebacks and stuff. high level is so evolved that this "stalemate" is actually an intense mind game to make the other player mess up. just waych some videos of some japanese t. hawk players. once they get in, they win. no mistakes.

Ryu is a joy to use when you want to destroy your opponent. Whether you are spamming or not doesnt even cross your mind. You just want to win. Guile by design is a methodical knockout artist. Players who choose him are deciding they want not only a challenge but a conquest. They know it will be hard to battle the hadouken spam and go forward anyway. This is a great Guile player. It shows that hadouken spam is hard to beat and when daigo does it...forget it. Respect to the Guile player.

@silversquall but i'm not really going to argue this much longer. yes i understand "if it works why not use it", but personaly i think that kind of sucks. but to each is own, we all play differently (i assume). as far as the whole "casual" accusation, idk where i fall in it because i play street fighter a lot in the past (and street fighter like games, never competed though), but i haven't been able to get the games myself so now i just play when i get the opportunity (and it's rare now).

if you do the input of a throw within 14 frames of being thrown, you will reduce the damage by half. If you would have been knocked out by the throw at full damage but live if teched, you will still loose (but you will fall as if you teched). It can't be used on holds (Boxer's head but, and Dhalsim's noogie).

which one? To do sonic boom, you hold back and then press forward and punch. To do his super, you hold down/back, then press down/forward, down, down/back, up/back + kick.

exciting match! wonder why vertical jumps weren't an option for muteki while daigo fireballs eat his health. anyway, their post round reactions are a whole other story! you know things ain't so bad if you lose at a close round 3 to daigo and you're feeling just so tickled. cracked me up! they could form a comedy duo if this doesn't work out for 'em!
@RafaelPellizzari13 жыл бұрын

so that dude playing him is named muteki guile?
@OrangeJoe010113 жыл бұрын
@GothicJaime Im not but I still know the difference between spamming aka just throwing things out constantly with no knowledge of footsies, set-ups, and whatnot and good zoning. Ryu isnt a rush-down character, he is a zoning character, especially in SF2.
@DandyDLC16 жыл бұрын
he didnt have t jump to get out of the trap. as you can see in the video, he traded a sonic bom with one and got a guaranteed backfist. theres more ways around fireballs than jumping forward.
@DonJuanDeMarco216 жыл бұрын
No, i believe he enjoys it just the way he is !
@Peetar16 жыл бұрын
Great match. What I don't get though is why Muteki jabs in between sonic booms (00:19, 00:21, 00:30). Really seems pointless and potentially dangerous if he gets caught by a poke. Maybe it's to fake Daigo out?
@wusb815 жыл бұрын
isnt Daigo a Ken player in street fighter?
@inaantok18 жыл бұрын
i think that's not cheap. the "fireball trap" is one of ryu's assets. that's one of the key elements of ssf2t. its just that daigo executed it well. he gained my respect more.
@HammerMountain14 жыл бұрын
it is not cheap its just the fact that ryu has a big advantage when cornering someone the simple fact is that guile is a mid range character but once he gets backed up it over unless you get out of the corner or produce a ridiculous combo that gets you out. I myself am a guile player
@yahoo1o115 жыл бұрын

you hve to block 2 fireballs, the first meaty then then 2nd, whether its jab/strong/fierce. then you can match the next with a sonic boom. if they jump the boom, you have enough time to at least trade with low fierce or another anti-air normal.

@carlosdaballer1716 жыл бұрын
yea i kno, but its kind of hard to do that and it takes a while becuz u need to charge the sonic boom for 2 seconds plus when ur in the wall corner, its hard to anticipate wat the opponent might do..... he might throw projectiles at you, grab you, use an anti-air attack, etc. :p
@RaishinX18 жыл бұрын
Nope. Although the commentator says that Daigo is angry, there's no actual footage of Daigo's facial expression or any indication (other than the commentary and massive rushdown) that Daigo's angry.

it's true that it can be difficult to counter someone's "spam" strategy when they know what they're doing, but that's what makes victory MUCH more sweeter if you do win, and ultimately, it's also what makes fighting games entertaining, winning a match when victory seems ALMOST impossible especially if it's against a guy like Daigo who dishes out a near infinite amount of fireballs in this game. but that's just my opinion.

@ultrakelv14 жыл бұрын
@finch5280 um ok you assume there is spamming in tournament level SF but to me there isn't. There is a strategy to use projectiles to pressure your opponent. However, the spamming you see is what a noob does regardless of situations therefore its easily punishable. You don't need great skills to punish a noob do you??
