Great as always, Stephen! Reminder: I am the chap in the UK who had a benign brain tumour surgically removed in 2018 - still recovering. Watched your videos before & since then. Greatly helped by your involvement in brain-related matters, and I have been into fountain pens for many years. Thank you more sincerely than I can really hope to portray here. Hope you & Aziza have a wonderful New Year.

I always enjoy your 'best of' videos. I like the velvet smoking jacket and your obvious enthusiasm and love of the Yard-o Lead pen is a highlight of the video.

Thank you, Stephen. For this balanced GOTY. But of course specially for all the effort you put in making your video’s, for us. Year after year. I did not ‘do’ loads of fountain pen things this year, because of moving, and other time and energy consuming things. But it is great to know you will be always there to keep the fountain pen love alive. I wish you and everyone a somewhat calm and hopeful year. Despite everything going on. 😘

The kind of video that takes 47 minutes, but feels to be over in a heartbeat due to all the delicious eye candy. Out of all the pens you have shown, the YOL is the one that speaks to me most. I should have picked up a Viceroy Pocket when they were still easily available (it seems they are discontinued if I look at YOL's website).

Thanks for the entertainment, information and occasional bursts of wisdom. It is very much appreciated by someone less than a year into the hobby. Been mucking around in a rabbit hole of 3D printed pens myself recently, after I saw the Platypus pens and the filling mechanism on the Model 20. Really hoping they bring the clip to their Quokka pocket pen, as it would just make the perfect shirt pocket pen that serves its function and starts conversations. Hope you find many things to be excited about yourself going forward! Happy today to you!

I believe I started watching yours videos a little bit before John gave you that Yard-O-Led; I remember it perfectly because shortly after purchased me one Viceroy Grand Victorian fountain pen, which I still have. Best regards, and I wish you a very nice New Year, Stephen.

Feels like it was 1997 3 years ago? I wasn’t even born yet. I’ve watched ur videos since I was a child in high school a few years after u started. I’m now a young man trying to navigate a world where no one my age can afford a house. Thank you for all of the entertainment, but also information, knowledge and wisdom you’ve given me throughout the years. Although, watching ur channel can be expensive. Now I’m thinking about skipping the V60 and going straight for a reuleaux

I look forward to this review every year. I'm in the process of culling my small herd, but there are four pens I would like someday to add, as finances allow: one of Pierre's creations because he is local to me and his work is beautiful; a Ryan Krusak maritime L5, another pen from William Shakour--I have a wonderful dip pen he made for me, but the jewel in the crown, the one I would forsake for all others, is a Yard-O-Led for all the reasons you mentioned. To know I was holding and using an absolutely unique pen carrying such a deep heritage, and that I could pass it on to the generations behind me, would be so deeply satisfying.

Thanks for sharing, I can’t say that I am so surprised about your list, and for most of them I have no experience, except through you. But I agree with the Bolt, I bought two (one for my daugther who’s an artist and one for me) and they are great. I just placed an order for it’s brass version which might feel more substantial according to DoodleBud. Happy new year to you and your best half!

Love the natty suit jacket and bow tie combo 🎉 When you said that it had an alcohol reserve I thought you were joking 😂 Happy New Year✌🏽 Do you find any ink clogging using the rollerball tip? Great looking pen. I really appreciate how you translate your experience of how personal and thoughtful the pen community can be. Our relationships are quite impactful, as we care and communicate that caring with one another.

What is it about a man in a smoking jacket? A red velvet jacket at that! Taste, articulation, and funny faces to accompany a nuanced pen discussion, mostly pens I can never dream of using, much less owning? This, sir, is a reason for watching your videos. Thank you, a fulfilling and pleasant new year to you and those about whom you are fond.

Interesting lineup. It was nice to see SBRE Brown ink in two very different nibs. I'm curious. Do you think there would be any value to your viewers in seeing a list of favorite pens and favorite pen accessories that you reviewed during the year? Or is there some concern about upsetting vendors who didn't make the list? Keep up the good work in 2025!
@engineering_guy3 күн бұрын
Nice list! I'm sorry to say that I got TWO ensso bolt's one fine and one medium after seeing yours and other couple of reviews and BOTH of them dry out extremely fast. Even if I keep the nib open for 5 sec, it fails to start up . I guess its just my bad luck. I love retractable ones so much and there is only limited choice. Back to my vanishing point I guess
