I had a minor issue with a jacket i got from Thrudark a few years ago. I DM them and they sent a replacement the next day, before i could even send the 'faulty' jacket back. That customer service has lead me to be a repeat customer time and time again. Great brand, top team. 👏

Glad you did. I bought some t shirts a while back and, to be honest, they where piss poor quality so I sent them back. Waited nearly a month for a refund so left a bad review to match the poor customer service I received. The response to this was a very childish reply crying about how great a company they were, supplying mountaineers all over the world. No idea who sent the email, but being ex SF (or even ex forces) doesn't absolve you from criticism when it's due.

I've been watching a lot of these podcasts, telling the same story about SF selection and in my opinion the best of it, is the differential on its individual perspectives. That's magical, how a personal life difficulties becomes the fuel that makes torches burning. Brilliant.

Never get bored of listening to guys like these two. Blokes that are razor edge in terms of physical and mental strength and performance. You see it in the way they effectively communicate and how humble they are. Dodge nailing the game as a host as per. It does raise the question of nature vs nurture… do special forces attract certain types of individuals or does it build them, though it’s probably a bit of both.

Granted these boys have got tons of clout and a well deserved/earned massive following....but I think people underestimate the huge difficulties in launching a technical outwear brand. Many people have tried and failed, the big brands and technical fabric manufacturers have completely dominated the market for such a long time. Thrudarks success is testiment to how hard working and scrupulous they have been, hats off to them....deffo a brand for the gear heads!

Listening to Staz and Lois and their upbringings is like listening to my own life story, and no doubt 1000s of others who have served over the years. Broken home - children's home - military - special forces or specialised units - PSCs...My first ever team leader in Iraq (2004) working for a PSC was an RM Mountain Leader (probably the best soldiers across all militaries), he told me after 2 weeks in Iraq to stop volunteering for jobs (in Basrah). He told me that my life was worth more than £350 a day and to try and spend as much time as possible in my room getting paid for nothing. It stayed with me for the next 16yrs in Iraq and Afghanistan and I did indeed do as little as possible 😂....It's worth pointing out that many fail selection due to genuine injuries and go on to pass selection on their next attempt. Their point about having no option B is so on point.

Thrudark is quality gear. I tried to return something because the same product was reduced by 20% the following week and I wanted to buy it with the discount. They wouldn’t accept it as the order was already processed. They paid me back the 20% as a refund. Quality gear from a quality company run by quality people.

Great interview huge respect for these gents, military training ain’t easy and it’s true the most imposing or the look like suitable recruits cry like babies and then the wiry ones or sick looking or the obese looking ones guys go through is surprising when I look back, twisted ankles, broken bones, mental breakdowns, ambulances picking up dehydrated lads, ops then civvies life then you ask yourself why, what, how did I get through that, camaraderie is what I miss most.

My initial thoughts were hipster wear, but I appear to be wrong. A UK version of Hazard 4 (who's packs are good) but with a darker edge. I shall buy one of range to see what it is up to. I'm based out in the Pacific NorthWest and I am regularly in the temperate forest backwoods. Camping / hiking / hunting and precision rifle shooting a long way from civilisation is my passion and part of the reason why I left the UK almost 20 years ago. Great listen, I had a special interest because my son is going to apply for the Royal Marines in the summer. Love the success of the clothing story, just visited the website and some very nice gear on there, though I'm a tight Yorkshireman so I'll hopefully find some Thrudark bargains in TK Maxx when I next visit. I hope the company stays true to itself and doesn't go political and woke like a lot of companies do. Please don't cave in to the marketing bullies if they suggest getting involved with the alphabet people as this would be suicidal given that your general customers are likely right minded traditional folk
