@@kal2352 Always could have. It's merely a matter of would it have helped. When he first saw the broods at 4:11, he could have started the tech switch into getting ANY ship upgrades. However by that time you know you're behind on not only air upgrades (which he was down the +1 attack), but your opponent can likely crank out way more corruptors faster than you can pump out vikings, at least in terms of re-maxing potential (further cemented by Cure never making more 'non-rax production' outside of his main all game). Dark even has infestor/viper during that engagement already, and unfortunately as arcem said Fungal + Para Bomb + Viking/Lib = Salty Terran Tears. Dark did good to prevent a single indicator of spire tech from reaching Cure, so he really put all his eggs in the basket of +3/+3 Bio & Ground Mech to stomp Dark's roach/ravager that he never traded out in the mid-game. The fact he salvaged such a situation, and to do it with a unit count of what he has a 4:32 (seemingly not much at all), I'm surprised my guy put up that strong of a fight.

Commentators seemed to miss that Dark was focusing tanks every time he neuraled a Thor. Once Dark killed the last tank he moved forward and closed out the game. It was a fantastic use of his infestors since he had so many.

Not really, game was still a draw. Or atleast should have been a draw. Also those tanks werent a friend of cure if dark played it right with its broodlings. A (free due to broodlings) friendly tankshot while you cant repair hurts a lot.

Commentators missed the defensive nuke attempt right above the CC they were talking about. Missed the greater spire going down - then added "Spire being taken down but Dark still has a greater spire". This is why I've always disliked Artosis/Tasteless (I know this is just Tasteless and someone else). They bring the hype and the energy, but are still quite bad at everything else.

Well to be fair Cure was never really actually ahead. Yes, he does have quite the deathball of Ghost/Mech knocking and busting down the front door of the Zerg by taking out 2 bases, but Zergs can afford to give up a hatch or two if it means time and better positioning. Give that false sense of confidence, then shove their nose in with 17 brood lords, blinding clouds & fungals. All a game of incomplete information, & it's really just Dark's execution of it, really something that is going completely over many heads watching this game. I have more experience as Terran, but lately since I've been learning the ways of Zerg, seeing how far ahead Dark was in dealing with Cure's composition was kind of incredible to watch unfold in real-time. Even the casters didn't catch the utility of all his infestors he was "bleeding out." Because let's not forget, as a Zerg dismantling Ghost/Mech can be one of the hardest things to successfully pull off, and ofc unimaginably easy to fuck up. We do get good practice dismantling Protoss deathballs fortunately, but it's more in the way that Dark brings Cure's army to where he wants it. Dark lets him kill all the stuff that really doesn't matter, and let's Cure come to him. Put him in an awkward spot where he can't fight you but he wants to. That kind of manipulation is the good shit

If you can handle the micro of adding another unit type, you can get 3-6 vikings, but any more is throwing resources away. Vikings are made of glass, and parasitic and fungal are a constant splash damage threats. Thors are the typical answer to broodlords, snipes too if infestors aren't around.

I... don't think two players not able to figure out how to kill each other constitutes greatness. Like 17:37 Cure doesn't even use his 14 Ghosts during the critical engagement. When I saw them walk up to the left I thought oh he's about to do a sick flank and snipe all the Broods when the Banelings commit and... no. Then Dark doesn't immediately A-move one screen south and wipe the production. What a mess.

Here's the thing with Cure. He throws a lot that you're not even sure if he's intentionally doing it. There's a GSL match several years ago that Artosis is almost very very nearly calling Cure an intentional throw because of how bad his game was. Sometimes, I even think he's getting paid to do this shit. Dark's movement on the other hand, you have to realize he doesn't have the vision like you do. And he's behind, meaning he'll play to be conservative. More chances for Cure to throw if Dark just huddles.

Well two things. One, snipe sadly won't have the range to take care of the broods when they're already where they're at by 17:40 if your ghosts are on the high ground. But two, it's not nearly that simple. (Also, buildings can fly & Dark not simply exploding the banes into the Thors was genius, as they took all the aggro of Cure's units while also conveniently dying and exploding on everything nearby in the process) Analyzing that play, when his ghosts are on the ramp about to go on the left (like you envisioned the flank), you miss what the zerg can do to completely shut it down if he tries; which is fungal the group of ghosts once they're too far forward on the high ground & kill with broods. Dark has all the vision in the world given where is OVs are, & it would force Cure to take an engagement that isn't ideal as Ghosts his ghosts are unprotected and everything's focusing them first. Ghosts are a huge part of why Ghost/Mech is so damn powerful, as suddenly w/o them (later towards 20:40 when he's down to 4), infestors fungaling your air & neuraling your Thors suddenly becomes an issue. Reasoning behind Cure's Ghost positioning at that critical moment was to intentionally back up his ghosts, because seconds before, Dark feinted sending the banes in (right before he actually did), and ofc front-lining with ghosts against that many banes is a terrible idea.

I think if dark leaves a liberator alive he can wait for full energy on liberators and chain mind control to hunt down flying buildings (with queens located all around to make sure buildings can't outmaneuver). It would take.... a very long time, but since liberators can't hit grounded buildings and zerg units can burrow it would *technically* work I think? liberator dps might be too low to avoid the draw timer though so... uuuuh maybe not

No chance. If Cure recognized he had drawing chances he could have lifted his two CC's at 4/5 o clock and flown to the corner. Creep spread was not good for the queen maneuvering and there were only 8 infestors at the end, not enough to kill every building and once he ran out of neural Cure could run to the corner with the liberator and draw.

It would usually be a solution to the mass brood lords, but the transition might have taken too much time and resources. To get upgrade, multiple starports, get enough vikings to kill brood lords, dodging fungal or parasitic bomb while doing and not die to any potential tech switch from the Zerg. That's why many top Terran players stick with thors/ghosts/hellbats/liberators because they are the ultimate end game composition of TvZ while mass vikings don't. It's just Cure couldn't protect ghosts in those engagements destroyed his chance of countering infestors.

The terrans benefit tremendously in terms of resources. Please read it once. Thanks to MULE, I spend less resources on SCV and only have 1 type of mechanic shield-up, so there is a lot of resource benefit. On the other hand, Protoss & Zerg need to invest more in ground and air defense upgrades, respectively. Even Zerg & Protoss' defense towers cannot recover resources, but Terran has another resource benefit with the bunker recovery function. In terms of resources, Protoss & Zerg are at a huge disadvantage overall. One last thing on my mind. Terran's Cyclone & Battle Cruiser can auto-attack while moving. Protoss Phoenix & Carrier can auto-attack while moving. The zerg don't have such a unit. Blizzard needs to patch these issues quickly. SC2 users need a lot of voices. please help, thank you.

Why do high level terrans hate repair with such a passion? Like, a 20 minute max supply standoff, a game that will clearly come down to resource efficiency, and your thors have less than half their hitpoints on average, but you cant find the time to do some repair? I havnt seen the end yet but itd be a deserved loss for Cure if thats how it turns out.

Yup. This happens so often. When in beast-macro mode they just dont think about repair; and its only when the map is actually mined out and hitting the production hotkeys doesnt work anymore, that terrans remember they can also repair; but at that point I think its about 10k resources down the drain. Well deserved throw of the draw.
