I finished my first year at SCAD in Savannah, Georgia, as an animation student and a dramatic writing student! What did I think? Here's some of my experience and advice about attending Savannah College of Art and Design.

I'll be starting as a freshman here literally next month man... I've been sifting through your videos for MONTHS now, and I just wanted to say that I seriously appreciate all that you do. I'm planning on going next fall, and planning on using biking as my main mode of transportation. I'm also going to be majoring in 3D animation! If you have any tips, I would really appreciate it. Awesome video!!!

Awesome! I know lots of people who bike around campus. It's a good way to get around. Best of luck to you. SCAD can get pretty vigorous, but manage your time and learn how to take care of yourself, and you should be fine.

Thanks for making all these great videos. I have a question about if you know there's any financial aid for international students in SCAD?

Of course! I'm glad to be of service. International students cannot receive US government financial aid, but can be considered for SCAD-provided scholarships. You don't have to apply for these scholarships. They'll just be offered if you qualify.

Thanks for your insight. My child is attending SCAD next fall. They will be in sequential arts. Do you know if there is any preference between pc or Mac for their personal computer?

As far as I know, there is no preference between PC or Mac. SCAD doesn't even ask you to buy a personal computer at any point in their years here, but all students buy laptops or iPads for their own convenience. Whichever one their more comfortable with is the one they should get. Hope that helps!

Hi. Love your video and cute humor. We need some help here. My daughter filled out the initial app process and $100 fee but no one has contacted her via email to start the "My Admission" process. Apparently, she is supposed to receive an assigned code begin the "My Admission" process. I just sent an email hoping to get the process started. Am I correct about all this...waiting for contact to set up her admission portal?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. I don’t remember ever receiving an email with a code. We DID get a confirmation number, but we had access to the MyAdmission portal as long as we used our login information. We didn’t really get any other contact from SCAD until I got accepted. They might’ve changed the application process since I applied, but that’s what I recall. Sorry I can’t be more helpful! Hopefully that helps a little.

Could you tell me what school supplies you need for scad animation?

You’ll usually get a supplies list included with class syllabi. I’d wait to buy the textbooks until after the first week of class or if you’re specifically told to get it because all professors are required to list a textbook but not all of them actually use it. As for art supplies, you COULD buy the starter pack at the SCAD bookstore, but it’s honestly kinda a waste of money if you don’t intend on using half the stuff (I never ended up using most of it). At the very minimum, have some graphite pencils, charcoal drawing tools (chalks, pencils, vine charcoal sticks), and some erasers (kneaded and art gum). You should also have a sketchbook, some drawing paper, and some newsprint. Some professors will specify what kind of a paper to buy.

Hello, I am an architecture student from India, I had a gap year but have good grades otherwise, i wanted to do MFA (Animation & Film Design) at SCAD, Savanah. Do you think I still stand a chance if I make a brilliant portfolio and score amazing in GRE, IELTS etc.

Congrats on getting accepted! I know how scary it can seem before you jump into it, but I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it. SCAD does a good job easing you into things and helping you figure stuff out.

This is scad with students and professors
