When using Aluminium tube measure your end doubles, I normally put a double on at the right height for the lift and then get a roofers lat, mark where that double is from ledger to top/bottom of double and fly around the block putting a mark on my standards at every 21ft or wherever your ledger ends. Fly around and put all your doubles on and then it’s a case of just putting the ledgers in without having to level over. If your base lift is all level it makes the job way easier and faster. We do it with the steel up north on the sites and all you’ve got to worry about is plumbing your standards up which is nowt. You can do it on big jobs as well but I recommend levelling over after every 3rd lift just in case your measure starts to creep out a bit.
@ScaffManJones9 ай бұрын
I use to do it like that a few year back mate, it is a lot quicker but you end up checking it for level anyway to see if it is level so might aswell just level it in brother. All the handrail is measured for the next lift because most of the lifts are handrail height apart from the second lift which is joist lift and the first lift has to be 450mm from the trad or I would do 4- 1.1m lifts all handrail height. So most of it is measured just need to level inside ledger in and off you go. You know the score mate it never ends up level measuring every double. But yeah it is a good way if it’s bang on brother 😁
@NorthEastMick9 ай бұрын
@@ScaffManJones I don’t measure every double mate just the ones on the ends and I normally miss the inside doubles off on the return, the standards opposite the corner standards if that makes sense? Usually just mark the corner standard and plumb my inside standards up of my singles on the return once the corner leg is plumb and fixed. I used to work with a lad who measured every single double on every standard and it was a right fuck on trying to hang your ledger in. Keep the videos coming though pal, I like watching you and another lad called Shark Scaffold. Shark does private work mainly and you’re on the sites and it’s good to get someone else’s perspective when scaffolding because you never know when you might learn a trick or two.

we do use system scaffolding in the uk mostly kwikform and cuplock , some firms use allaround but not that many from what i've seen, in scotland a good 80% of the jobs that go up are system, i was 20yrs on the tools in scotland and i only used tube n fitting for the add ons, canterlevers bridges and the like.
