Silver ring made with fusion in cuttlebone mold

Using a casting mold, made with cuttlefish bone, is an ancient process, you can make crude copies of small objects, nowadays there are technologies that allow much more accurate copies, the advantages of using this technique are: it's cheap, simple to be implemented, immediate, no particular equipment is required.

Albert Ledesma Yes $48,000 USD. It had a 1.50ct (D,VVS1) center diamond, two 0.54ct (D,VVS1) diamonds next to the center, and ten 0.06ct (D,VVS1) diamonds going down the sides. I wish there was a way I could post a picture in the comments.

Lovely work, and an interesting mould-making method. I've seen similar methods using sandstone (for broches, etc.) but never cuttlefish 'bones', at least not in real life. Educational, entertaining, and artful. Perfect! =)

I tried the cuttlefish method and its too much finish work unless you like the pattern it makes. I started using fine perlite powder mixed with fine cement powder. I can make like a thousand molds now for about 50 bucks and they turn out almost perfect. With fine and exact detail.

I would love to have bendy thumbs, I see so many hand craft worker with thumbs like yours, makes holding these little Curved items much easier, mine are straight have no give in the top joints makes carving fiddly bit harder.

Very very nice! The cuttle-cast turned out perfect. Your cuttle bone was dense and smooth. I've never seen any like that. But how about an alternative to using glue. Over here, jewelers avoid glue if possible. And never admit using it.
