I've got an exmark Lazer z HP 48'' cut love it it is a1999 model. Today I am replacing the valve cover gasket on the motor for the first time. All the spindles and everything still original other than the two front tires. Just bought a turf tiger 2 52''now I'm noticing the same issues you're talkin about I hope I love it as much. Ifyou had a quality backpack blower to clean off your mower once a day. You won’t have that problem with the brake locking into place. Those two mowers are the best for stripping on the market.

My pos 2 year old Exmark holds grass in front of the battery, underneath the control panel ( it was worse before I put some tape around the throttle and choke levers ), and under those seats, and they don't even completely clean out when you hit em with the blower. Another problem area is the back of the deck right under the frame, but maybe that's because I caught it after it started decomposing and crusting up 😂 I'd trade you that for the Scag all day.
