Pacific National is one of the largest Rail operators in Australia hauling trains though every state in Australia. In South Australia the Adelaide Hills challenge their trains on a daily bases. This video locomotives such as NR's, AN's, G's, 81's & LDP's haul their massive Freight Trains though the tight and twist Adelaide Hills. Enjoy!
Featured:
00:15 - Pacific National Intermodal 2PM5 passes though Bridgewater with locomotives NR102/NR84/8117 on Thursday the 4th of July 2019.
03:00 - Mixed Intermodal & Steel Train 1MP2 heads downgrade into Sleeps Hill Tunnel with locomotives NR115/NR68/NR23/NR41/NR80 on Monday the 23rd of September 2019.
06:30 - Intermodal service 5MP5 from Melbourne to Perth heads downgrade into Eden Hills Tunnel with locomotives NR15/AN2/G526 on Friday the 11th of October 2019.
09:30 - Express Freight 4MP7 passes Mount Lofty Railway Station at the highest point on the Adelaide Hills line with NR52/LDP009 working hard upfront on Wednesday the 30th of October 2019.

Excellent! Been watching your videos for about 2 months now since I discovered the channel...very impressed with the technical aspects (framing, backgrounds etc.). You do a great job, and the interesting bits of info make the videos stand apart from the rest. Keep up the great work 👍

Great video and telling what train it is 😄 I find that part very interesting as I’m from Manchester England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 I also watch Greggs videos lol 😆 How long are your freight trains? It also sounds like Australia wants to get rid of trains like everywhere else 🙈 Keep filming cheers Stevie 😎🇬🇧

The Eucalypt (note: 'eucalyptus' is the oil from Eucalypts) is gorgeous and not naturally found elsewhere in the world.

Distributed power not used on long consists in Australia? The Union Pacific usually has 2 or 3 leading, one or two in the middle and one at the tail of the long coal trains that come out of Wyoming that pass through Kansas heading east.

The frist two clips were great, showing a variety of wagons that always adds interest. The 'early morning clip' was superbly done by you. We'll call it 'AJ': the previous 'The Overland' first class sitters in which some of us had many a trip, so comfortable. Obviously some of the steel loading may be attached/detached in Port Augusta for Whyalla. But in your experience, what percentage of the loading - whether double stacked upon arrival in Adelaide from Melbourne, or taken off if originating in Perth - is added in Adelaide westbound or detached there eastbound? And is this mostly containers that are placed on top of wagonjs that have come from Melbourne (i.e. single to double stack) or does the shunting add extra wagons, either single or double stacked, so that the trains are even longer north of Adelaide?

+micheal proboscas PN prioritise that train for loading as a it often has time sensitive contents that need to be delivered on time. They also pay ARTC extra for right of way at certain points/crosses if need be.

No crewcars? Or are they only used between Adelaide and Perth? Nice to see "Hamburg Süd"-containers from Europe.

For a while there I was trying to work out why they had to remove the second container from the double-stackers, as there aren't any height restrictions that I know of in Victoria, until you showed 1MP2 going downhill into Sleeps Hill Tunnel, so I guess that is the only restriction to these types of trains, which leaves the question, can't they find a bypass to Sleeps Hill? or find a way to raise the height, either by cutting into the road bed by the necessary amount, or raising the ceiling by the same amount, I guess the answer to both is no, as the time any Australian Government takes to make such an important decision, and getting everyone to agree takes a minimum of ten years ,if that, then the time taken in the work is just as great, which is a loss of revenue to the railway operators. I guess the first option is the better one, but that's only a layman's logical thinking.

@@MS_Trains There are also height restrictions on the line here in Victoria as well. The Bunbury St Tunnel being one, plus many other bridges on both the Adelaide and Sydney lines. BTW, I love your videos, the locations are great and the info about the trains is useful as well. I have been filming trains in Vic and SA for over 30 years now, and love watching your videos. Keep up the great work. Bill in Dromana Vic.

@@MS_Trains In government, as I understand it, Premier Steven Marshall of South Australia has announced a few weeks back that this plan, together with a new freeway bypassing Adelaide (i.e. new to connect Murray Bridge to somewhere north of Adelaide, avoding the hills) had been abandoned due to cost.
