Hey Ali. Question for you, if you’re willing. Say, for every $100k you have available to trade an RSI2 strategy, how many instruments would you want to include in the portfolio? For example, I’ve found about 15 instruments that pass robustness testing, and can use MC portfolio trader to rank them easily enough. But am not sure how best to structure something like this? It ties into scaling in, because I can potentially use fewer instruments and scale them at higher position sizes or spread it out over more instruments. Both effectively reduce ret/DD.

I always lean to more strategies than position sizing. Position sizing is a tool but you need to be experienced and well capitalized to use it

Hey Ali, great video! I have two almost unrelated questions! :D 1. Why don't algo traders go heavy into crypto? It kind of seems that huge volatility, number of decimal places, general inexperience of a lot of traders should all help algo trading? Is the draw-down to hard to manage? 2. This one's a bit stupid, but it's not obvious to me: Algo trading almost seems infallible, if done right. How come not all algo traders are millionaires?

1) Crypto cost 2-10% for round trip so unless you have special access and a little leverage no point in intraday or short term. Also you cant move a lot of capital because of liquidity. All that said of course many funds do trade crypto, mainly arbitrage. 2) pro algo traders make +30% per year so you need some time to accumulate capital enough to make 7 figures yearly. Many Pros are millionaires. Keep in mind u need time to acquire the skill and the discipline to stick to the plan. Think of it like a surgeon, study and practice for 4-6 years, make ok money for 4-6 years then the hockey stick curve kicks in and makes lots of money. Of course thats the average, many make it a lot sooner and many die trying.

Hi Ali, thanks very much for this video, is really good. I developed the code in Easylanguage and no problem, tried to do it in SQX but i could not do it. it seems that is not possible for TS/MC, have you been able to do it in SQX? thanks again

Sqx export to TS/MC so if you developed in easylanguage u should continue there. Sqx has limited functionality when it comes to custom development

Hi, Ali, excellent video (again) ! I love this kind of topic. Would be amazing to focus on scaling out as well. Like exiting one contract when RSI2>75, and keeping one contract for "Trend following", assuming that first exit makes second contract "free".

Great suggestion! for trend following, but for short term mean reversion usually the trade ends once you revert to the mean.

The strategy is robust, but you should never trade one strategy. Always trade a portfolio of uncorrelated strategies.
