Applying masking tape is probably the most tedious aspect of painting but removing it is soooooo satisfying! Great video!

Thanks! The reveals are always a lot of fun.

The Tamiya masking sheets with a grid pattern could also work for this.

Always nice to show an old school technique. Not everyone can afford or locate already made decals or parts. Great job and thank you.

Simple question.What is the time between the basecolor to dry and then move on to the 2th coat masking etc etc?? 1 day to be sure, btw i use only laquer paints.Great how to do video again from the Fine scalers team
@FineScaleModelermagazineАй бұрын
The base coat was prepped a couple of hours before we shot the video. For the purposes of the video, there was probably 5 minutes before we were applying the next series of masks. We used a hairdryer (don't use it on your real plastic model--on a paint chip, it's a different story) to speed drying time between segments. Under normal circumstances, using Tamiya lacquers, you could get away with 30 minutes drying time before masking and applying the next coat. You don't want the masking tape to sit on your model for too long. Make sure to use low-tack masking tape (like from Tamiya) and prime your model before painting.

Hey FSM guys, who should I contact for a Finescale book I never received? Your website isn't working half the time, so who do I email? Thanks
@FineScaleModelermagazineАй бұрын
The website just went through an unexpectedly rough server migration. We should be through the worst of that. If you ordered the book direct from Firecrown (formerly Kalmbach), then email orders@trains.com and the e-commerce team will help you out.

Very helpful Aaron, one could simply trin 1mm off all ends to make a square. Might save some tape.

Once you get it laid out, you should just be careful how you paint and then just..."Let it be!" ( Those who know...know!)

There are far better ways to cut up tape for this sort of camouflage 🙄👆😩😬😬😬😬
